The "Group" of a generation, the ultimate creative duo that defined a genre, creating "banger" after "banger" and floor filler after floor filler. The definition of themselves was as artists spreading chaos through music.
If you have any of their releases, keep hold of them and take care of them. Why? Well, they had some pretty crazy, anarchic traits from writing a vow of silence on a car to burning £1,000,000 on a remote Scottish island, but they also deleted their entire back catalogue when they exited the music business.
Although having Tammy Wynette as the main vocalist on this single went against the ethos of the group, it really works (in my opinion).
The early workings featuring "Maxine's vocal" they felt wasn't working, so much so that they nearly dropped the single completely. They were working on "The White Room" album and re-did a version using the talents of Errol Nicholson and through some thought processes, decided to ask Tammy Wynette to guest vocal for the chart release

I play this pitched up all the way. I don't know how these KLF records keep finding their way into my collection but they sure are interesting.

I always wondered why they even bothered to make the "All Bound For Mu-Mu Land" version with Maxine's vocals at all...it was having Tammy's name on the record that really made people take notice, and I thought the whole point of making the "dance" version of the song in the first place was to make Tammy the star of it.

I'm pretty sure that other than the first 12" release, this is the only 12" put out that actually contains the 12" version of "Stand By The Jams". All other vinyls seem to have the shorter 3:36 one.

Ice Cream Vans. And Tammy Wynette. What more do you need?

I met Tammy Wynette a few years after I bought this, got her autograph and popped it in the record sleeve.

More perfect pop which I'm sure sounds awful to most people who were to young to remember it and even those who were around then. If the beats were toned down slightly it could have passed as a Manchester Indie/dance joint.
Tony on the remix brings it back to an acceptable level of "coolness" especially on the Let Them Eat Ice Cream mix turning in a lo slung dubbed out trance version.
I was listening to Hijack, Silver Bullet & Hardnoise at the time but I look back fondly on these KLF days.
