Notes

"Delicate Sound Of Thunder" documents Pink Floyd's comeback tour (1987-1988) supporting their new album A Momentary Lapse Of Reason. It was recorded and filmed over five nights at the Nassau Coliseum in Long Island, New York in August 1988, and released in November 1988 as a double LP, double cassette, double CD, and VHS, each format containing a slightly different track listing.

The film version wasn't available in digital format (DVD and Blu-ray) before 2019 when it was included in 'The Later Years' boxset, and then later available in a standalone edition in 2020.

Wow! This is the kind of LP that gets you hooked on vinyl. Fantastic sounding DMM pressing, side 4 is quintessential Pink Floyd live. One of my all-time favorites.

This live album really needed Dick Parry on Sax. Scott Page's playing does not make the album age well. I refuse purchasing it, as it really has that 80's feel.

Dunno why not reviews yet. It’s kinda magical. The cd version, hyper compressed, isn’t comparable with this vinyl one, at all.
Perfect channel separation. Grab a good copy and u’ll be happy

Amazing pressing and packaging with the booklet and cut-out circle in the front. Really nice album overall, I might like this slightly better than Pulse due to the MLOR tracks. Dogs of War sounds amazing here.

I can confirm I experience the side 2 distorsion as well :-( Pretty sad, since the others PF re-releases of this serie sound well, as far as I know.

I ordered the 2020 version of this on vinyl and while I'm waiting for that to arrive I decided to sit down to give this a critical listen so I'd have something to compare the newer remaster to. This pressing really sounds great except for side 2. I noticed the high frequency distortion on the guitar when I first listened to it in 2018, but under scrutiny (and at loud volume), it is absolutely piercing and there is no ignoring it, especially on Sorrow and during the guitar solos in On the Turning Away. Apparently the remaster does away with this, here's to hoping.

This set is like “Pulses” little brother. Packaging is about %65-%75 of what Pulse offers and sound quality is around %50-%60 of what Pulse delivers. That being said “Delicate sound of thunder” is a top shelf live recording and every PF fan should own a copy of these legendary shows.

I am glad i pick this one up. The only think that made me mad was as soon as i bought this i found out there was a 2cd/blu ray combo and that blu ray contains 5 bonus songs. Are those 5 bonus tracks hidden on this blu ray anywhere?? I was thinking maybe there is a Easter egg somewhere???

What the hell were they thinking! They have, effectively, de-livened this recording. At best, it sounds like the band is playing in a lounge somewhere quiet, at worst you can't tell they are playing in front of a live audience at all. If that was the point, they succeeded! Why do this to a live album though? They took out much of the echo from the drums (not a bad idea in premise) but the result is NOT better than the original, they somehow ruined the sound in the process. Obviously there are good aspects to the remaster ... you can hear the backing vocals and vocal harmonies more clearly and I noticed some other good stuff but my overall impression is one of disappointment.

It looks like I'm sticking to the 2016 reissue and adding about 4 to 6DB to the levels in my trusty hard limiter to roughly reach the same levels as this. At least I can add the tracks that weren't included in the 2016 reissue from this, they don't have any drums!
