Robert Plant – Shaken 'N' Stirred

Incredible pressing, not sure how this compares to others but this one is amazing. 🤓

The album itself sounds great. The mastering was done so well. As for the content on the album, it’s just not my thing. Little by Little is the one song that will be memorable to me because I actually like it.

Interesting enough, appears to me I don't think Plant was under contract to Columbia Records as a distributer like a few other major labels? Why I mention this? Because it's a first pressing gang rush 1985 and I haven't yet figured out whom mastered for vinyl and lathecut but hot damn, maybe I shouldn't put the word out but this is absolutely the best pressing with still the skilled engineers and historical professional 3 eye abilities to put forth likely the reputation and representation Robert Plant wanted in his solo release. I haven't talked to Plant. Moreover, I really don't care this is a Columbia House Record Club Album. The drums, soundstage, floor, vocal presence speak for themselves. Unfortunately underrated at discerning listener's pleasure.

It must be really difficult to re-invent yourself after breaking up one of the biggest and best loved rock bands of the 70's. I must stay relevent, I must get in the charts, I must have modern synths and a drum machine! I want to sound like Prince and Run DMC and I want to do a reggae album! This does actually sound more like Ozric Tentacles than Led Zeppelin, which is what makes it more than passable. It's not particularly bad but it just fails to be outstandingly good it had all the elements that made Eno/Byrne - Life in the bush of ghosts sound good, apart form the slightly edgy edginess that runs through it. Occasionally it starts to get good but then comes the Yahama Xmas present keyboard stabs that ruined every record in 1985. I don't hate it but I'm not sure its going to get enough plays to grow on me.

The sound quality of this pressing is stunning bearing in mind it's not a fancy remastered reissue...

This is one of the strangest records I've heard from an ex singer of a legendary rock band, i.e., Led Zeppelin! It's got clean, click-clack production, piles of synths and nonsense lyrics. Funny thing is I have a strange fascination for it. It's both baffling and hard now looking back to 1985 to think this was recorded and crafted in a studio and released. It's not essential listening and Now & Zen from 1988 is a better return to form for Plant. An oddball LP from the days when Zep were just a memory.
