New Order – True Faith / 1963

Crisp, clean, and open sounding, WOW!! Such a shame that the majority at least of “Substance 2023” couldn’t have been the same, instead was brickwalled to death. I’ll be picking up as many of these ‘87 singles or remixes on vinyl as I can because they are the best I’ve ever heard these songs, followed closely by the 1987 CD which is a very close second.

Happy to report that the mastering / pressing and artwork are all first-rate. No need to pay a fortune for an original. New Order done right. ✅

Not 45RPM as indicated - both sides play at 33 1/3RPM

Is the leaf on the cover supposed to be shaped like Cyprus for some reason or is that pure coincidence?

Like all these New Order 12” reissues this sounds fantastic. I’ve seen some of the patients on the Hoffman forum saying “No No No. These sound too modern. Too loud. DR4. DR8. DR549 etc etc

They should spend more time listening to music and less time staring at readouts generated from low or mid priced software. I’ve got original copies ot 7 of the releases so far and have compared like for like on a number of occasions. Even popped some of them, including the new releases, onto minidisk and then pressing Shuffle and trying to work out which was which. I couldn’t tell one from the other.
Anyway, good stuff. This isn’t a mindblowing remix. Its not bad but personally I think a track like True Faith deserved a proper beefy megamix that lasts 12 minutes or so. Bit like that Quad Mix of Depeche Mode’s Enjoy The Silence.
And it’s a pity theres no remix of 1963. Thats another song ripe for having a good old fashioned extended mix.

Just coming here to say 1963 washes true faith. Could have EASILY been the A side and released as a single 😗

The version of True Faith here is a Shep Pettibone remix, much more dance oriented than the original. Although it was a huge hit in the clubs and helped get New Order in the top 40 here in the states, I really prefer the original UK edit of the album version over this. The remix just doesn't make much sense outside the clubs, though I'm sure people who heard it back in the day have fond memories of it compared to the original.
