Led Zeppelin – Led Zeppelin II

Unique glass master on this release. Can anyone confirm if it sounds any different against other common CDs (whether level or mastering)?

Agree with all of the positive reviews. Worth it just for the bass line on Ramble On.

I think that the year is wrong because on the back there's a promo of Zeppelin III, relased in 1970, It Could be from 1971 or 1972

I’m not sure why the ratings are so good. This pressing is absolute disappointment. Doesn’t even come close to an RL. A GP cut sounds better than this too.

I loved the sound of this pressing. I have the late 80s Allsdoft pressings of the Zeppelin catalog, Remasters (Marino), the original 1986 CDs (mostly by Diament), and this 2014 JP remaster has the same distortion as the Diament CD, which I believe is accurate enough even though it was rumoured to be second generation master. I'm buying all the Zeppelin JP remastered vinyl again now.

Anyone have any idea how this stacks up to an RL?

The best part about this version is trying to find the perfect one to keep. It’s not a rare record but it is however, hard to find one that plays with little imperfections. Even the cleanest looking copies have background noise, pops, etc. I would sacrifice a bit of added bass, that the RL gives off, in exchange for the GP cut. Turn up the GP an extra notch and it sounds the same as the RL; and for a fraction of the price. When searching for an RL I would prefer to spend a few extra hundred and get a cleaner copy. Buying VG quality for $100 usd or more isnt worth it for the RL. If we are buying this version based on the sound quality then having a VG or lower quality takes away from this. My point is that a VG+ GP sounds better than a VG RL. Alternates to the RL include the 1st Japan press, the MFSL, the Spanish Alvear and obviously the 1977 George piros cut.

This is a great pressing/master, and I have most of the gRaiL versions of this record. Not as dynamic as the RL/RL or RL/LH but has a nice fullness in the midbass that they lack. If I don't reach for one my RLs, I reach for this.

I have variant #2. I’m comparing this to an RLss in VG+ condition. I prefer the GP cut and here’s why. The RL simply kicks harder but has some surface noise and light pops (they all have some amount of noise). Therefore, instead of being bothered by any amount of noise every RL contains, I turn up the volume a bit and play this GP cut. The GP plays more clearly than any RL I’ve owned and all you have to do for it to sound like an RL is turn it up a notch lol debate is over and I didn’t even have to mention price point.
