King Crimson – Earthbound

Finally bit the bullet after some big upgrades to turntable.
Flawless pressing...and...this is the best I've heard this album by a large margin. Instruments clearly heard separately,stereo imaging-(gasp),bass guitar heard clearly,bass drum clear. No shrillness at all. The only thing that sounds a bit tinny are cymbals. Glad i bought this reissue. Definitely recommended if you like this album.
I will dig out my 1st press to compare.

I have version with misprint on rear back and else on Label A too. On label print "Macdonald" in credit. Matrix/ runout side 1: HELP 6 A-1U II 3 and side 2: HELP 6 B-1U o 1

I have A-1U MO / B-1U AD 2 with correct spelling of McDonald on the label and the back cover, black inner sleeve, and I find that both sides sound fine (despite the poor sound quality of the recording) to me on my stereo system (NAD power amps, Mirage speakers, Rega Planar 2 (80’s) with Grado XT+ cartridge.

Holy toot , 21st century is worth the price of admission alone
I’ve just got this today from my local dealer , a might hesitant thinking it may be a bit of a filler album. The soloing on 21st has more wig outs than Maury feller in goodfellas. Outstanding stuff if you don’t find artistic merit in this chop both ears off

Maybe I missed out on something, but if the promo is from 83, then this 83 release is the original japanese issue, not a reissue! If the philosophy makes it a reissue, as the original english version was much earlier, the the japanese promo is also a reissue!!!

My copy appears to be this German 1972 pressing, but my disc labels are different. "Island" is printed in small type (no big logo). There is an isolated palm tree to the left. Anybody know anything about that? I uploaded pictures. Feel free to disagree.

By the way: I really enjoy this album. I agree with another reviewer who said that live recordings should be rough.

Gotta take this one for what it is. A cassette recording (and a bad one at that) of mid period Crimso melting down live. Fripp hates it and I don’t blame him. He has tried in vain to bar it from future release but failed. If you want live Crimso there’s much better recordings out there; the bootleg “Dr D” is even better. Really a record for completists in the end.

Does this sound any better than a 1st press? My 1st press plays remarkably well for the "tape recorded" source. Interested to hear if this reissue is an improvement. Thanks in advance.

Can anyone advise me please? I have a copy of Earthbound which I have owned from it's release. According to Discogs listings the UK 1972 (mine is var. 3) Ian McDonald's name is miss-spelled on the credits on the back cover. After further investigation (the photos) I have noticed that his name has been spelled correctly on the label of side one, whereas on my copy his name is also miss-spelled. Evidently, this listing is not the correct listing for my copy and I am unable to find any others that correspond with my copy. How do I inform Discogs that there is another version (ie mine) as I don't know how to add/modify to accommodate for this.
