Can anyone advise me please? I have a copy of Earthbound which I have owned from it's release. According to Discogs listings the UK 1972 (mine is var. 3) Ian McDonald's name is miss-spelled on the credits on the back cover. After further investigation (the photos) I have noticed that his name has been spelled correctly on the label of side one, whereas on my copy his name is also miss-spelled. Evidently, this listing is not the correct listing for my copy and I am unable to find any others that correspond with my copy. How do I inform Discogs that there is another version (ie mine) as I don't know how to add/modify to accommodate for this.

Nice to have for a KC collector like me.. But no top recording.
It's getting better after "21st Century Schizoid Man"...

Interesting fact as regards the original release: The A2U/B1U pressing had Side A re-cut with significantly less treble than the A1U pressing. Given the nature of this recording, some might argue that it "doesn't make any difference" but it is a detail I just discovered as I happen to have two originals right now. Both have the corrected "McDonald" credit on the rear sleeve but one is A1U/B1U and the other is A2U/B1U. I find the A2U cut far more bearable on Side A. The difference is somewhat remarkable in that I can hear why somebody thought Side A needed to be re-cut and the treble dialed back.

Can someone please tell me what the difference is between this and the "slightly different label variant to King Crimson - Earthbound" is?
I cannot see a difference?!?
Same Matrix!?!

well what can i say about the (in)famous Earthbound?
perverse wierdo that I am, i was intrigued by all the negative reviews of this album. i couldnt reconcile them with Fripp the obsessive perfectionist so i took the plunge.
This album is a beast!
Live albums should be gritty and dirty and this one certainly is, think of your favourite 70's bootleg, thats what you get.
upon pressing play i was immediately knocked back into my seat by a wall of noise , the drums are particularly powerful and well recorded with plenty of "air" around them, not the anaemic tick tock you sometimes get with dry soundboards.
First up is a scorching version of Crimo's best known song, second is a jam that sounds like the Clash's Guns of Brixton
with some very funky fripp guitar!
the wall of sound doesn't let up and the set ends with some enjoyably wild feedback
sure the edits and premature fade outs can be annoying in 2021 but put yourself back in 1972 when the limitations of vinyl dictated such things.
regarding the 3 bonus tracks on the cd, while they do present a more rounded view of what this line up could do I feel that the quiet passages in Formentera Lady and Cirkus dilute the sonic attack of the original 5 track album somewhat, perhaps they should have remained just on the DVD-A disc which is, incidentally, excellent.
The DVD-A sounds excellent and the bonus features are well chosen, 20+ minutes of the improv sections from 20th Century Schizoid man edited together into a medley - yesss!!
plus a hi-res needle drop of the original album and a radio session in Quad
the authoring is excellent i just put the disc in my player and it started playing the expanded 2017 version of Earthbound instantly like a cd
King Crimson are innovating and exploring the potential of the medium even on a reissue of a maligned title like Earthbound.
Earthbound was well received on its release but its reputation suffered over the subsequent 50 years, 3 years later another live album from King Crimson, USA, was harshly reviewed on its release but has subsequently been somewhat rehabilitated critically. both are excellent examples of live albums and both are worthy of your attention

The sound of the recording is unfortunately underground, but the music is absolutely above ground. I wish I was there. The 21st Century Schizoid man and Groon my absolute favorites.

Just terrible, and absolutely shoddy recording, and why it was released is anyone's guess.

Has the wrong version of the band on the cover! I have and love this pressing for that reason!
