Notes
First entry in "Scandinavian Metal Attack" Split-Album Series
Released 19th March 1984 in Scandinavia by Tyfon/Wave and in the rest of Europe by RCA Victor
In 1983 (when Bathory formed) Quorthon, worked part-time at the small record label Tyfon Music.
In late 1983 and early 1984, Tyfon Music was putting together a compilation of songs by Scandinavian metal bands, at the last minute, one of the bands backed out. Tyfon agreed to let Bathory appear on the record as a replacement, and the band recorded two songs for the compilation: "Sacrifice" and "The Return of the Darkness and Evil" in January 1984.
To everyone's surprise, over 95% of fan mail sent to the label after the record's release was dedicated to Bathory.
Bathory's tracks as present on this album, had noticeably slower tempo and better production, which greatly contrasted with their re-recordings, as they appeared on Bathory (A3) and The Return...... (B5).
OZ's tracks (A1, B3) taken from Fire In The Brain (although the A1 track doesn't include "Fire In The Brain - Take One !" quote from the Source Album).
Trash's tracks (A2, B1) taken from Watch Out.
Zero Nine's tracks (A5, B2) taken from Headline.
For Spitfire (A4, B4), this would be the band's only tracks (besides their only 7 inch single) to be ever officially released.
A sequel was later released, with OZ, Bathory and Trash returning.
