Carly Rae Jepsen – Call Me Maybe

Pre-ordered September 2021 and just now received it! Hoping everyone else gets theirs soon

This looks nothing like the mock-up, it’s more of a nude color but it’s still beautiful! I have nothing quite like it in my collection. Love this color!

Looking to add this one to my collection. Anyone have it for a reasonable price? There is a site that has it listed, but only seems to ship within Japan.

This is the very definition of a perfect pop song. A few of my friends can't understand why I like it so much and I must admit this type of tune with it's unabashed cheeriness, aimed squarely at pre-teen girls, normally drives me up the wall but it's just so catchy. It's so unashamedly fun and sunny it would breed resentment in grumpy people but it is destined to be a guilty pleasure at the very least. This may seem like a back-handed compliment but it's a term people use to begrudgingly admit they like a song. It's the I Think We're Alone Now by Tiffany of the teenies (2010-2019s).

This impossibly catchy song seemed to come from nowhere, unless you came from Canada and knew the previous folky tv career of Carly Rae Jepsen. It seems, also, that she tried to have more success by adding electronic beats to her voice and making pop songs. Now, something happened in "Call me maybe": the rest of her recent songs (there is even a Joni Mitchell cover, in case you didn't guess the girl's idols by now) are good gentle europop, but here is pure pop perfection: the string samples in the chorus, the feel-good lyrics which are simple enough but not that trite, the bridge, everything. I think that it's like when you are cooking something, and use just the same ingredients, and you don't know how that dish ends up tasting better than anything you have done before. It's like a perfect match of a Morrisette-like voice, europop and eurodance. Add a very gentle videoclip that actually is fun because of the fun it makes at itself, and there you have it: an impressively catchy, irresistible, pop song that you will be thinking about after listening to it for the first time. And, of course, a meme sensation all around the internet in 2012.
