I don’t think this album came out in 1984. The original Ding Dong press says 1985 on the record labels and given that side one was recorded in September 1984, releasing it that year would be pretty quick. I recognize that the band’s website was 1984, but it doesn’t seem accurate. Anybody have reliable information?

Such a great LP with all the tinkling atmospherics and E K-S in fine form.

This album contains two of the best tracks the Legendary Pink Dots ever made. The piano-based ballad "The Lovers (Part One)" is very atmospheric and deeply moving. 15 years after its release it is an absolute classic that has not lost one bit of its magic. This is THE stand out track of their career and alone worth buying the album. Also very nice is "The Lovers (Part Two)" though not everyone may like the heavy strings. The rest of the album is average experimental synth-pop.
