Notes
Houses of the Holy is the fifth studio album and was released by Atlantic Records on March 26, 1973.
The album benefited from two band members installing studios at home, which allowed them to develop more sophisticated songs and arrangements and expand their musical style. Several songs subsequently became fixtures in the group's live set, including "The Song Remains the Same", "The Rain Song" and "No Quarter". Other material recorded at the sessions, including the title track, was shelved and released on the later albums Physical Graffiti and Coda. All instruments and vocals were provided by the band members Robert Plant (vocals), Jimmy Page (guitar), John Paul Jones (bass, keyboards), and John Bonham (drums). The album was produced by Jimmy Page, and it was mixed by Eddie Kramer.
The cover was the first by the band to be designed by Hipgnosis and was based on a photograph taken at Giant's Causeway in Northern Ireland.
Although critical response was mixed, Houses of the Holy became a commercial success later receiving a Diamond (over 10-million albums sold)[4] certification by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) in 1999. In 2020, the album was ranked at number 278 on Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time
The LP cover was staged & photographed at the Irish Giant's Causeway. The Giant's Causeway is an area of about 40,000 interlocking basalt columns, the result of an ancient volcanic fissure eruption. It is located in County Antrim on the north coast of Northern Ireland, about three miles northeast of the town of Bushmills.

- Sounds way better than an RL (I have a Monarch), but not quite as good as the Canadian '73, just on Side 2 by a smidge. Side 1 sounds identical though and clearly uses the same metalwork as the earlier '73 pressing. These CA pressings are the best I've heard this album sound on vinyl. Grab one! 👍👍
- Phenomenal soundstage on this (RL) album, great vocal clarity, and fantastic bass on this pressing, a must have for any Zep Fan!

I’m not a fan of these remasters. They sound every bit the digital that they are. I can switch over to lossless streaming if I want to hear that. I’m looking for lovely round analog sound and this is not that.- This is the best sounding copy of this record I own. Just tested against a mid 70s RL and a later 70s copy. This is way more dynamic. The bass drum thumps hard on this. Dead flat and clean.

Maybe it is the gin but this sounds very, very good. Like all the other Led Zep remastered vinyl I have the record is flat and quiet. I think my favourite part of the album is the end of side 1 where Robert Plant requests to go to the bridge James Brown style. I'm a big fan of the hardest working man in show business so I find that little section very humorous. Haha. What else needs to be said? I'd love to say I got this for a song...but the Australian dollar is astronomically diabolical. A rank embarrassment. And I had to rob a stage coach to get my hands on this foundationally spiritual offering. Time to mix another one. Give me strength.- Edited one month ago

Can't find mine on 'Discogs', I have a French blue promo sticker. Does anybody else? Says Edition deluxe 2-cd and words like produit par.. - This pressing sounds phenomenal. Have a ‘75 RL as well and this press is superior in every way. Highly recommend!
- Very nice sounding record! I also thought this was a OG 73 pressing since my local record store put the year of 1973 (of course when the album was released) on the sticker price. I guess not. Nonetheless, this 77 reissue is all good.
- I cannot find this release: (K50014 A3 ; G RL Sterling) - Side One (1---4) Warner Bros. /// (K50014 B3 10 C RL Sterling) - Side Two (1---4) Warner Bros.
I know it's more than likely a Reissue/Repress. Someone help me please!
