Michael Jackson – Off The Wall

"Thriller" may have been the album that catapulted Michael's solo career into the absolute stratosphere, but "Off The Wall" paved the way for that record, and this is still the album I throw on most of his. Fun set of songs, great grooves, tasteful instrumentation, and production that manages to be impressively clever whilst avoiding being overwrought. Bernie Grundman's mastering is also top notch.

After some research I think I can finally conclude this is the pressing I've got, but it seems I got one that has some irregular info on the dead wax, since it goes as it follows:

Listened to Rock with you and there's no clapping either, so I'm a little confused. Anyone who can help me out??

Velmi dobře znějící picture disc. Byl to vůbec můj první vinyl s obrázkovým potiskem, co jsem si koupil, a velice jsem si to oblíbil. Lepší než poslech z CD.

Analog heaven, excellent dynamics, no sibilance and vinyl is whisper quiet. Looking forward to hearing the MFSL 2LP 45RPM to compare, but this Japanese pressing is spectacular.

My guess is while the Japanese were manufacturing the GOLD-FACE version for their own domestic market ie. Japanese people; they ALSO were manufacturing the above concurrently to be distributed to the European market. This is indicative of the matrix saying 35 8P-2-1. At some point, pressings ONLY said 35 8P-2. {So it seems 35 8P-2-1 was exclusively used for the GOLD-FACE & the above pressing.
Also "MANUFACTURED BY CBS/SONY RECORDS INC." in the hub tells you it is 1983.
I've NEVER seen a SILVER-FACE Off The Wall with 35 8P-2-1. It'll just say 35 8P-2 in the matrix.

Better to buy this clean original rather new upcoming MOFI. Magic of this masterpiece unbeatable.

SInce MOFI just announced a One-Step of this title, so I played my 1979 and it sounds great. No need for the One-Step in my collection

This has been one of my better purchases in a world full of unsatisfactory purchases. Extremely pleased with the pressing. The album isn't new to me, so this is explicitly regarding the pressing. I'll reach for this over streaming in a heartbeat. I may have just been lucky, like some of the others below, but had to speak up for this one. It checks all the boxes for me: flat, crackle free, centered, killer mastering job. Gotta have good highs and lows for MJ.
