Michael Jackson – Off The Wall

Pretty good sounding but analogue:ism is gone. Any way it will be the last Krieg W master I buy as not sure what this guy is up to as in all his masters for MoFi the lower base is lifted or something just adding an unnatural thump and that seem to be his signum as an example, all the MoFi 45 Dire Straits have the same feature. It is just something that makes these masters from him no fun to listen to, kind of one note thump base. Ok, I have a full freq system 20 Hz and up, maybe on some loudspeakers no issue as it would not be heard, who knows! Sure some details are heard a bit clearer but still missing the groove that Orig has. Maybe an Analogue Prod master/press would deliver better results. At least this one sounds better that Thriller (33 rpm though). Or is it just a matter of old tapes getting squeezed for their last drops? Even some UHQR does not seize up to Orig… still some tracks are better sounding than some...

This pressing sounds immaculate. Blows away most production of today. Punchy and full. It sounds genuinely impressive. I feel like this is the only way to hear the album now.

Great sounding One Step, one of the best so far. Thriller gets all the love but this is a damn fine record albeit without as many hits. Question is, if they did Off the Wall on a double 45 which has roughly 43 minutes why wasn't Thriller given the same treatment at 42 minutes? Curiouser and curiouser. In hindsight which is 20/20 as they say Mofi should have approached the One Step series like this: #1 fully disclose initially the DSD source. #2 do the entire series only on double 45 lps. #3 use the updated slimline box. #4 choose only great titles and not every Eagles and Van Halen records. #5 limited to 5,000 per title instead of various numbers all over the board. #6 release on schedule only one per month. #7 charge only $99.

On side B first song, "Working Day and Night" tons of skips, it appears there is a spiral groove that looks like a run out groove over the whole damn song. I've never seen anything like this. Does anybody else visually see this on the beginning of side B. I'm messaging Mofi for a replacement. Otherwise sounds good

Beats the hell out of the UK cut, with some excellent high treble and soundstage extension. I've upgraded to a Japanese pressing, but don't be afraid to pick this up if you can find it in good nick.

Even without cleaning dead-silent records. Killer bass. Almost immersive. Get it while you can. Compared to the very good US 1st press this one is an absolute no-brainer. Price is high, sound is higher :D

The best sounding record in my collection. I was skeptical because of the price, but it was so worth it.

Dead quiet and excellent sounding. Don’t have an original US to compare but this sounds amazing and has lots of bass and punch. This also features the original version of “Rock With You” without the hand claps and I also believe it has the original mix of “Get on the Floor”. This might be easier than getting an original US original with the original mixes. I’d say this might be an “audiophile” pressing. Recommend it.
