King Crimson – Islands

Lovely "hidden track" ... well, not that hidden at all.

Excellent, powerful, deep and clear sound. Another example of the high standards of Spanish late 70s COFASA pressings.

In my opinion, compare to my US pressing. The first pressing beats it sound quality. It's way more dynamic than the us one. But, one thing that US pressing had it better, it is the album sleeve. The build quality on the US is way better in my opinion. Overall, the first pressing is the one I would say go and get. Another good option, is the original us pressing, 2010 reissue, or SW remix, to get vinyl if you can't get an first pressing.

This mix is insane. Goes from very quiet to extremely loud, more than other KC mixes. Still, it's immersive and that range helps every sound get separated from the others. Great pressing.

Does anyone have the cover/gatefold without the vinyl for sale? I bought an original Court of the Crimson King and this press of Islands was tucked inside but no cover obviously. Please message me if you're looking to sell one.

This release does not contain the 60-second silence and coda at the conclusion of side B.

It's probably redundant to call a King Crimson album "odd," but this one really is unusual in the context of their other albums. This pressing has INCREDIBLE dynamics: you can see the huge peaks and valleys on the vinyl grooves themselves. The songs alternate between bemusing folk-y hushed vocals and full-on jazz-rock sonic attacks. A really nice one to hear on vinyl.

Anyone have just the inner sleeve? Found a clean copy for cheap but no custom inner.
