The Chills – Kaleidoscope World

This was purchased directly from Gerri, the widow of the late Tony K of Red Rhino Records. How he got it and why it was made in a polarised picture sleeve is anybodies guess. I’d suggest it’s rare and potentially unique.

Just got this exact copy brand new from a shop today. There was nothing on the shrink to indicate it was anything but a standard black pressing. I was surprised when I opened it and saw it was the above variation. Anyone else run into that recently? Wonder if it was deadstock.

My copy is flat and plays clean. Overall a great expanded re-release of an essential compilation.

Sound misery compared to FNE 13 edition.Noise and sibilants are less in 2cd edition and there is more bass than FNE 13 but FNE 13 is superior in all the other areas.Bass is less,but much more clear,has better organ separation,better detail and better treble body. 2cd edition has a dull sound,thinner and rolled off treble but it has 6 extra songs.The choice is yours.Personally,i prefer the older edition because i think that trying to make the new edition more "analogue" turned like a boomerang.
