referencing Timewave Zero (CD, Album) MET 795
This album is basically a harder and darker version of DJ Orkidea's Metaverse. It is modern trance in disguise. Don't get me wrong, it's not negative; in fact, I dig this album as much as I despise the whole Terror EBM/Harsh/Hellektro sound in general. But apart from some of the aforementioned styles elements scattered here and there and the voice itself, the production, the synths and the melodies clearly state where it comes from. The mid-section from 'Conflict Instigation' could be easily mistaken for an Oliver Lieb track, not to mention the mid-tempo 'Deep Waters' with the inevitable female guest vocalist, doing her best to fit between trance diva and annoying goth chick performance. The futuristic atmosphere is effective overall with some very nice samples on the intro and outro tracks in order to build some coherence.
It's nice to hear good crossovers coming from that scene, too bad DJ's won't spin it - too aggressive for trance crowd, not enough for rivetheads.
