- I guess I'm just not that crazy about Wilson's mixes. I feel like it lacks the punch of the original mix while rarely revealing anything I haven't heard before. As with the debut, it's too similar to the original to really serve well as an interesting alternate listen, and really only comes off like a second rate version. This also just isn't a particularly well recorded album and no version of it sounds impressive. This doesn't change that fact. The Elemental mixes are much more interesting, but two of the best tracks on the album are absent, and it's definitely not half as enjoyable musically as the final thing, so I don't see myself spinning it often - although I'm still fond of it.
- The vinyl is dead quiet and the sound quality is the best I’ve ever heard for this record. I have the 40th anniversary Steven Wilson box sets and hate the way those sound, and had an original U.S. pressing. This surpasses both and it’s not even close.
- Edited 2 months agoThis is a fantastic reissue of LTIA. The sound is huge , dynamic and detailed. Excellent bass. By far my favouirite copy of this album and I have late 70's vinyl issue, 3oth anniversdary CD and 40th anniversary CD/DVD set. This tops them all. Well done Mr Wislon for an excellent mix. The elemental tracks are interesting but for me don't really bring anything better, probably won't revisit them often. . The original album is so good already and I think the correct choices of source material were made back in 1973. Much of the emphasised stuff from the elemntal mix makes the album cluttered and is at the detriment to other key components..
- Edited 3 months agoMy copy has △17852(7) on the runout for each side, and more interestingly, side B has double labels pressed awkwardly on top of each other where one sheet reaches to the edge of the runout. When the album is over, the needle runs over the label and makes a loud scratching noise. Is this another known variant or is my copy unique?
- Jackets of this particular Japanese press commonly suffer from paper foxing. This looks like reddish specs and discoloration often confused for mold but has no smell and doesn’t look nearly as bad. I love the sound of this record but I don’t have another version to compare it to
- Great pressing. Very happy with the overall production. Very quiet between tracks and in low passage areas. Great dynamics with no shrill, good punch in the drums and bass. Nice clarity. Very satisfying listen. The only thing I might question is the 200 gram? But not an issue as it makes little difference to me.
- agree with all comments below was a little skeptikal about it being japan because some japan pressings are light in the low end but this 1 is astounding great lows mids highs and vinyl not a click or pop 0 noise!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Shouldn't this be considered a completely different album so people aren't confused about what they are getting? No matter how great it is, it is not the original album and should not be considered as such. Am I crazy for thinking that?- To me, this version of larks on cd is pretty good. The 1989 "definitive edition" release of larks is great. Nice and dynamic, you can cleanly hear the music. Wish it had a 4 or 6 page booklet cover thing, instead of just the 1 page booklet (front and back covers). Same with thing with the "definitive edition" release of red, oh well I guess. Anyway, to me, worth getting this release of larks, highly recommed.
- Edited 7 months agoCompared to the PRC pressing this one sounds bad, its missing 10% of the music and sounds a little bit muffled. My copy of this pressing is NM and much glossier than my PRC which is VG+ at best. I will keep trying other US pressings to see which one is the winner.
