This Mortal Coil – Filigree & Shadow

Hello, for 4AD fans. I bought a new copy of this french press, mine was old. Inside i have a copy of 10" Come here my love...with only inner sleeve.There s a plastic yet. The guy who sell it to me said, i bought it at FNAC shop in France in 1986 and this 10" was inside?

If someone know this press?? Thanks

I don't own UK pressing but this one sounds really good! Loud and detailed.

The vinyl gatefold is rather tight for storing the records in both the poly/paper inner and picture inner, so I've kept the poly/paper inners for other records in need. A simple design detail overlooked at the early stages - shame. The sleeve does look nice but it's crying out for some lovely calligraphy.

This remaster sounds awful. The track Tarantula in particular has frequencies that are cut off, so when the singers try and reach for the high notes, they are not audible and end up sounding distorted and compressed. Only great thing about the remaster is the packaging. It's a beautiful gatefold. Otherwise, stick to an original pressing. Or just get it on CD (my personal preference for this album).

I just bought this edition after having the original album on vinyl for many years. The packaging is very high quality and the sound is great, which is fitting for this brilliant and timeless album which has been in my life from my teenage years right through to my middle age.

My copy of this CD is variant 5 listed here, but there never was a barcode - sticker or otherwise.

amazing sounding album just compared to this current re-issue to the original UK first and its just about identical in sound quality both are awesome cant go wrong with first UK or this one!!!

on one of the discs, the label in the centre is badly stuck. are all the discs like that?

This Canadian Vertigo version just sounds phenomenal. So does the Canadian Vertigo It'll End in Tears.

All three This Mortal Coil albums are wonderful, this one is my favorite and I’ve loved it since the ‘80’s. It balances the “pretty” songs with sounds that are almost industrial. Brilliant - Ivo and John Fryer were a great team who pooled together incredible talent. Simon Raymonde was also a big part of the album and deserves credit and acknowledgement for his wonderful arrangements. It is full of highlights, for example the version of Van Morrison’s “Come here my love” has haunted me from my teenage years right through to my middle age and the album introduced both Tim Buckley’s and Gene Clark’s music into my life. Made living in the ’80’s bearable and is still relevant for today’s crazy world.
