just a brilliant box set. its taken me a while to really listen to this and get familiar, but now after 2-3 listens I'd rate up there with the Can's best stuff.

Absolutely ESSENTIAL in any form for any serious Can fan.

Love the concept, love the packaging, love the music.

It all passes way too quickly, I wish it had been at least a 5-disc set.

Too many highlights to mention - there's simply no point describing the music as anyone who loves Can will love this, without fail.

For hardcore Can fans this is a treasure trove - for everybody else get the first six albums first.

This sounds unbelievably good on vinyl. The lps are pressed thick and are loud. The packaging is incredible. Easy to get lost in.

I love Can! But I am always fascinated that people from record company (mayby group itself) after of a long pause collect hardened leftovers after dinner, nicely wrap and served again.... for some baksheesh of course... legend is legend

This is getting released on quintuple vinyl on December 3rd. There is also a single bootleg LP sampler of this, mixing up the tracklist and even using parts of the actual boxset artwork.

THE EAGLE HAS FINALLY LANDED!!!
Any CAN fanatic who has read up on the volumes of tapes recorded during the band's official 10 year existence (like me) has ached to know & hear what some of those shelved recordings may have sounded like. Thanks to Hildegaard (Mrs. Irmin) Schmidt "nagging" (per Irmin's booklet notes) and Jono Podmore's encouragement & enthusiasm approximately 50 hours of music was salvaged, digitized & remastered from decaying & poorly labelled reel tapes. This boxset consists of what would have equalled SIX LPs worth of music back in the days they were recorded of the material that Irmin, Jono, & Daniel Miller of Mute agreed would be the choicest selections to release. It is undoubtedly the MOTHERLODE of unreleased Can. While there are definitely echoes of beloved themes present from the Malcolm & Damo years, the majority of this collection is truly unheard before & in my opinion a more fulfilling "Delay" release than the 1981 "Delay 1968". There are the phenomenal monster jams that hold up to Can classics like "Pinch" or "Spray" but there are also plenty of oblique, almost ambient selections comparable to "Ibis", "Quantum Physics" or "Unfinished".
This boxset is an ABSOLUTE MUST for any diehard Can fan, and the 10"x10" booklet with ample notes by Irmin Schmidt in both English & German is almost as much of a treat as the music itself. I would not recommend it as a starting point for the uninitiated though as it may be too much of a Can crash course for anyone unfamiliar with "You Doo Right" or "Mother Sky".
