- Must have for everyone who holds Dave Clarke's - Archive One close to heart. The remasters sound better, but kept the original feel. The box set is beautifully packed and the additional booklet offers great insight to how Dave Clarke approached his music and his rise to fame after the Red series and Archive One.
- Not sure about the bonus CD. My copy didn't come with it and I haven't seen it listed by any of the main retailers (Phonica / Juno / Decks etc...) as being included with box-set.

Dave Clarke has the point, back in 1995 he all over the wolrd with this album, but then he did his live album, tho it has gonk and southside, plus no ones driving, but i think he just went a bit over the hill for me, idk why, his music seems correct when you frist here it but it just gets weird when you here his live, just my opinionreferencing Archive One (2×LP, Album) 74321 32067 1
this guy knows what he's doing; in the studio and on the decks. late 90's heavyweight stuff. surprisingly good dynamics on my pressing.referencing Archive One (2×LP, Album) 74321 32067 1
A good compilation including well known tracks (Red 1 / Red 2 / Red 3 and Southside) plus some exclusive material. Recommended to everyone who is interrested in Techno of the 90ies.referencing Archive One (2×LP, Album) 74321 32067 1
Outer and inner sleeves are all very red with just a bit of tiny black font - presumably to not detract from the whole redness thing. I was thinking the tracks also come across in a similar way. The Red series singles are of course the major feature and demonstrate that this really is what Dave Clarke does best. Some of the other tracks are of interest and actually not at all bad. Southside for instance is an excellent track. Ultimately this was always going to be a good album and is now probably considered a classic example of the 90s UK club techno scene.referencing Archive One (CD, Album, Digipak) 74321 32067 2
These days, Clarke is more known as a DJ than for making banging techno tracks, which is a shame. Ditched his decks and vinyl a few years back too. At one time he was a solid producer, and his best tracks stand up to anything out there. This CD is a compilation of some 12" tracks from his "Red Series" along with some other stuff, all sequenced into an album for home listening. I don't think ultra dull looped banger tracks had completely taken over techno, so what you get here reflects more of a Detroit influence. Specifically, Robert Hood and Jeff Mills, but Clarke has some ideas and personality of his own to add to the mix. He tries a few different things here and not everything works 100%. The opening track is a faux-orchestral, beatless synth piece and a couple tracks with some hip hop influences (and even vocals) pop up too. Personally, I think Clarke is at his best when he sticks to making fairly straightforward techno tracks that have peaks with heavy kick drums and gradual build-ups (I don't mean like trance though!). Protective Custody, Wisdom to the Wise, and The Storm are particular standouts to me. Miles Away takes a more melodic, less intense path and works pretty well too. Even if this isn't a perfect album, I'd still highly recommend it if you want to hear some of the best techno from the 1990s.- Edited 10 years agoThis is Dave Clarkes finest production "Archive One" collects various singles on different Ep's most notably the legendary "Red Series". What's ironic is dave clarke is anti drugs yet he has produced some of the most tripped out Techno of all time apparently the Red Series was inspired by "Tronik House" aka Kevin Saunderson who also released some brilliant Hardcore Techno tracks on his KMS label stand out tracks would be "Wisdom To The Wise". Which is Dave Clarkes Masterpiece hypnotic to the core a seminal track along with Storm full on Techno with some wicked riffs and the vocals if you listen carefully illustrate his anti drugs stance. . All in all a brilliant Techno album. It has more in common with European Techno and Underground Resistance than Detroit Techno which is more subtle. Enjoy this definitive release.

Archive One is an album every techno lover should have or at least should have listened to. It contains most tracks of the 'Red' series that were released on vinyl. Archive One contains tracks which strech the boundaries of techno: 'storm' and 'thunder' are two leaning on hardcore techno tracks, whereas 'rhapsody in red' is a kind of electronic 'classical' track. 'no one's driving' and 'the woki' are featuring f*$&ed up breaks. Other tracks are mostly good and relaxing techno tracks. Brilliant must have cd. - Gave this one a few listen"s" recently and I need to say there's so much of Clarkes ROCK attitude I can't stand it. Classic electronic dance music in all its facets an no need to blame this guy though he's a real arrogant DJ.
Give crops and check your big booooooty!
