Would be amazing to repress this, make the people happy rather than sad...

Octal Industries wrote this today on Facebook:

"This one was made in 2004 with Mike Sickinger. The vinyl had a fantastic DeepChord, Echospace track on the flipside - all ingenously mastered by the legendary Ron Murphy. There were only 100 copies made, though Discogs somehow shows a bit more that have it. A lot of people have asked if this will be remastered and repressed because It's hard to find and the prices are so high. The short answer is "No. It will never be remastered and repressed - at least not our track". The reason has nothing to do with keeping the prices up or some snobbery. It's just I have no idea where the original DAT with this one is. I lost the tape. It's gone.

I had a DAT player that occasionally would "eat" the tapes. It would just freak out and ruin the tapes. Everytime I got it fixed, it did the same thing after a week or two. I have a suspicion that this tape became a victim of that monsterous DAT player.

Now that we have settled that, we can move on :)"

As a Dub Techno Fan before i discovered real Techno + House Music, I have a strong connection to Maurizio, Deepchord and their as a likes. There are so many amazing Dub Techno records out there and when i get asked for favorites, it's normally super hard to mention one. But i guess, "Departure" is, since i know it, definitely easily in the All Time Top 3. I 100% agree with schnicki81 about the smart arrangement: taking off with that typical unearthed Chords and landing with that conga/percussion section. What a flight. Can't count how many times i have listened to this tune. Sadly i don't own it on Vinyl. "Arrival" is also quite nice, pure OCTAL vibes.

I ordered my Octal copies directly from the label back in the time and the label owner told me they destroyed the dubplates directly after the black velvet pressings!!!

I think I saw rumblings about this getting repressed on echospace. Not sure if its true, but I'd be all over it. Departure has been on my want list for years.

One of my prized possessions, funkstar would need to add at least 3 zeros to that figure to part with mine.

Out of all the Deepchord/Rod Modell releases I have heard in my lifetime, this one is my personal favorite. In my opinion, Departure is their most exceptional work and also unfortunately not so easy to get ahold of these days unless your willing to save up some serious clams. Departure is basically 2 tracks melded into 1. The first half of the record is comprised of the classic Deepchord skanks and a subtle analogue tape hiss. At approximately the 4 minute marker, you're going to want to make sure you're seated and well comfortable because when they bring the bongo loop that into focus which, up until now had been lurking in the background of the composition, its going to blow your mind.
