- Edited 6 years agoHere we have the early inklings of Macronympha, Physical Chaos being the follow-up to their first tape, Insane Torture Device. When re-issuing this version of the tape, Rodger simply added a brief description of "The second Macronympha tape. Chaotic layered noise, raw and hard." From what I understand, this was originally released in 1992 in a VERY small quantity, but I have no idea to the initial number. Some notes on earlier releases mention only 10-15 copies of the original run.
This early material, and most of the the first few releases, truly represent lo-fi scum noise perfectly. Everything on this tape was recorded and constructed on a simple 4-track. All of the Macro elements are there: tape loops, distortion, feedback, scrap metal, etc. If you love Macronympha, you should go back to the beginning and check out Physical Chaos along with Insane Torture Device to see where it all began.
