Honestly some of the most immersive music that I have heard thus far, and this pressing does it justice without doubt. I know we all love Sea Swallow Me, but the ambient tracks on this album are also incredible. This record sounds full, absorbing, lush. Recommended.

IMO the OG pressings of Cocteau Twins lps has been the way to go over the reissues- sound of OG's is MUCH better. The only time the reissues worth it is when the have extra songs.

I wasn’t very impressed with this when I bought it when it first came out and it’s sat in my collection having only been played a few times…
I felt both parties didn’t really play to their strengths and as a result the music was a little diminished.
I need to re listen.

YX 7426 This is a gem and sounds beautiful. Ultrasonically clean it. EDIT: Now that I've heard the Canadian Vertigo pressing, I have to say it's probably even better sounding than the Japanese pressing. Both are good. All the Vertigo CTs releases sound amazing: HoH, Treasure + Aikea-Guinea, Tiny D/EiaSB, Victorialand, and BBK. So do the Vertigo It'll End in Tears, Filigree & Shadow, Lonely Is an Eyesore, and a few DCD releases also (the 2nd thru 4th).

Regarding the comments about "translucent vinyl" - that is interesting. It sounds as though it could be a Quiex II pressing. The 1986 pressing date would coincide with that. Quiex is not recycled vinyl, creates a quieter pressing, is often slightly transparent - Google it.

There were some Joy Division albums pressed on Quiex, also Robert Palmer, Peter Gabriel, some "promotion only" albums (such as Cure's DIsintegration - highly collectable . . . .).

I have to say, despite being into ambient music as well as an ardent Cocteau Twins fan, I find Harold Budd's contribution pretty ordinary. Whenever I listen to it I feel that our Scottish heroes are being restricted by Budd's bland harmonies....and also, I want more Liz Frazer!! (but then, don't we always?).

I'd rather play a full-on Cocteau Twins album.
