- For me, this is an album that I try to listen to every copy of. I’ve heard nearly every CD/digital master and nearly every pressing (some countries excluded because that would be painful). I can happily say that this is the closest you’ll get to an original. It’s clean and fantastic. Absolutely destroys the AP45, 2009, and MoFi.
- Edited 4 days agowent back and just listened to this after owning the analog productions AAA cut and the new AAA cut rhino hifi and i have to say this pressing while not as good as those still sounds pretty damn good. For someone who just wants a new clean copy without spending alot this is a good option
- This is the closest I can find to the pressing I have. Everything in the notes is identical. Matches "EKL 4007A REH AB 9-67 NEW" except instead of 9-67 both sides say 10-67. Is this a different pressing that took place a month later?
- Edited 7 days agoI've had this one for about 3 weeks and have listened to it about 7-8 times so far- love it. IMO, clearly :) better than the AP 45 and RHF, although those two don't sound bad - just not nearly as good as this does.
However, I did have a buddy bring over a Monarch 1st press yesterday and we did a quick B2B of 20th Century Fox and the 1st press did have the following advantages over this one, although they were slight - but noticable: a bit more low end, the bass guitar itself had better articulation (you could hear into the vibration of the strings better) and as good as this midrange is - the 1st is just slighlty a bit more open. Highs were about the same. This was only 1 song but I'd bet the others are similar - the bass seemed to be the bigger advantage of the 1st Monarch - on my system anyway.
Just off the top of my head, I'd say:
1st Monarch: 9.9/10
This Monarch: 9.75/10
RHF: 8.5/10
AP 45: 8.5/10
I also have an 80's Japan which is pretty good and I'd rank that 8.75/10.
IMO / YMMV - Hands down “The BEST” listening experience out of every format…. CD, Record or Tape….. this blows them all out of the water. It’s as if the band is playing a session live right in front of me.

Incredible pressings
Words words words words words words words words- Edited 2 days agoI’ve found the 1967 originals to be the best. They just have something that the DCC lacks. The MoFi is definitely better than the AP though. The AP is a horrible sounding record in comparison to the other pressings. I’m convinced everybody who likes the AP has never heard a DCC or original
