I did not use to like this album due to its wild lack of homogeneity. But I was so much older then, I m younger than that now; it’s hugely enjoyable, wacky, experimental, charming, touching, soothing and exasperating by turns. Sort of like life itself, in fact. The sequencing is a delightful challenge on its own. And Dear Prudence, Julia, While my Guitar Gently Weeps and Long, Long, Long among the best songs in the Beatles catalogue. I enjoyed the Giles Martin remix, which I find neither intrusive nor eccentric.

A must for every serious rock music collection.

I think this re-issue sounds great. However, this is from someone who has never owned this album or heard an original pressing in person but it sounds great on my system. Very lively and I noticed the bass straight away. My pressing was very flat and I experienced no surface noise. Great packaging.

I have a later danish pressing than the one listed from 1968. Probably from late 70's. It is not top loaded, and there is not any number on front of sleeve. Matrix are YEX 709-1, YEX 710-1, YEX 711-1, YEX 712-1. I also have the 1968 danish press with two different sleeves. One with "stereo" in rear corner, and one without. Both are stereo versions.

The sound quality on this particular pressing is the very best you'll find, and in my estimation, better than the original UK stereo (I have both). It has a luminous quality that is really compelling.

There are also early examples with the same pressing and matrices, but distributed with a top loading British-sourced numbered gatefold sleeve, with the same British-style font used for the number. There is also a small gold foil Odeon/EMI sticker on the back cover (located in the top right corner).

"later copies with striped white/red inners" -- not sure what this means except these were used for early issues of Sgt. Pepper's?

Impossible. The photographic images of the CD clearly show "EMI SWINDON", not as claimed "CAPITOL JAX 20 C"
This should be changed.
