Reviews
- Edited 6 days agoI think there’s truth in all of the reviews below. This thing is cut HOT. Is that good? I think it depends on the listening experience you are looking for and the system you have. This might be too much if you own a pair of brighter focals for example. I don’t think this is bass shy, but there is probably a lift in the upper mids. The bass is there but it’s not bloated, rather it is very tight and well defined. This results in the heavier electric songs melting your face off and the softer songs sounding extremely detailed and beautiful. I like listening to this record at a lower volume than usual, because you get all the detail without having to go loud. Also the vinyl is one of the quietest I own from the ‘70s. This one is a keeper for me, but I’d also like to supplement it with a warmer cut (perhaps a UK HTM)?

does the vinyl come out from the top of the cover? or is it the side like the US version?- I believe this COULD be a test press submitted by DECCA for Apple, on the Apple label for the later pressed Export copy P-PCS 7067/8 which was released on the black Parlophone label...I really don't know as I have never seen this edition before.
- The pressing has as much bass as recorded originally. It is very high quality pressing with pace and space sound rarely found on any other LP. Can only recommend it.
- I got into this hobby post pandemic and one of the first records I bought was the 2018 remix of this album. It sounded great but always thought it sounded sterile and too modern that took away the essence of what the Beatles sounded like.
I found a near mint copy of this and I was blown away. Yes the stereo mix could’ve been more thoughtful but the dynamic range and overall natural balance of frequencies is amazing. The guitar doesn’t sound veiled, drums doesn’t like it’s on steroids and the bass isn’t bloated (all my complaints with Giles Martin remixes).
On my birthday, I always play Birthday. I have way too many memories with this album and I am glad I have such an alive sounding reissue of this classic. - Edited 11 days agoSounds great.
Man the bass is SO good on this press!
Cutted I think by French engineer Jean Claude Pellé (´P’ in the runouts).
I also have the German unmarked DMM and frankly I end up listening more to this one, it almost sounds like the mono mix on the most heavy tracks.
Go for it! - Mine sounds pretty good. Nice, wide, clear, clean and dynamic. It's not very powerful, in the sense that I think it lacks a bit of presence, but I don't have other versions to be able to compare it.
