Notes

The Beatles is the ninth studio album by the British rock group The Beatles, released on November 22, 1968 in Great Britain and Germany. In Great Britain it was their tenth album, including the compilation album, in Germany it was their thirteenth album overall. It was their 16th album in the US, where it was released on November 25, 1968.

It was the only double album released by the band. Known colloquially as the White Album, it was recorded at EMI's Abbey Road Studios and Trident Studio between 30 May and 14 October and was also the final album (unless you count the Yellow Submarine soundtrack) also mixed in mono. It was produced by George Martin with uncredited production by Chris Thomas.

yet another orange label Capitol version that just flat-out destroys any other version ive ever heard (1968 Apple US and late-70s purple label US Capitol). i'm telling you, these specific orange label pressings are the best USA pressings of Beatles LPs out there. i also have "Second Album", "Yellow Submarine", and "Abbey Road" with the orange Capitol labels, and they all sound phenominal.

now, this entry is the closest i can find to my copy in hand. same un-numbered jacket, poster, photos, exact label match, pressing rings. but... disc one (side 1 & 2) matrix has the Winchester "rifle" etching on both sides. disc two (side 3 & 4) has the jacksonville "0" stamped on side 3, but side 4 has no pressing plant ID, but has a cursive "gene" etched in the matrix and is also the only side that has the "mastered by capitol" stamp. also, side 1 and side 3 are both cut without spirals/seperations between the individual tracks. each of these 2 sides are cut to look like they are one long track taking up the entire side.

Good Lord this pressing sounds incredible.

By far the best pressing of this record. I saw an interview with Steve Hofman saying that because of the complexity of the White Album masters, only the German flawless pressing process would do justice to it. He was not wrong.

These deep-groove RCA-pressed beauties play back wonderfully, with glorious fidelity. Sounds like it was recorded yesterday fer chrissakes. Incredible sounding hot-wax...

I'll disagree with others on this pressing. I compared it to a couple of different pressings, including a copy from one of the mid 80s UK blue boxes that has both tube and solid state cuts (HTM, -3 4, -6, -2, -2), and an early 80s US rainbow label pressing. I really couldn't take the brightness on this particular Japanese pressing (and I'm an avid Japanese vinyl collector). Sold it to a, hopefully, happy buyer. But this pressing was not for me. DMM is an acquired taste as some find it metallic sounding but as for this pressing its a balanced sound . Great lows and separation , just blast it away on your speaker or headphones and enjoy this legend album. Glad i finally got the white album with the poster .

This is a completely new sounding record when compared to the first UK pressing , which I don’t own but heard. The OG is more punchier on the guitars and it’s agressive, this one feels modern with more bass, emphasis on the drums and not as scratchier vocals.

Amazing mix and pressing, dead quiet with a beautiful black inner sleeve. Definitely something to have in your collection.

My copy is correct except for one thing: The side one label is actually the side two label. The rest of the labels are correct. I know there are a ton of variants on here for this record, but if anyone reading this knows of a listed variant for this mis-labeled version I'd appreciate a reply. I've searched and searched and don't see one, but don't want to add a new variant. Thanks

Record 2 was edge-warped but played through without any surface noise. Sound quality is clear, with excellent staging and separation. A tad more sterile and lean than older issues I've heard, so Helter Skelter was far too polite, but this re-issue overall still has personality. It's got the punch and detail. Aside from the warp, you'll get no purist curmudgeon complaints from me!

This Swedish pressing sounds great,....and I need two more words. The sound is fresh and crisp.
