Ciccone Youth – The Whitey Album

A concept album where we feel totally free to experiment in different genres but always in a Sonic way, this mix of approaches is very interesting from an artistic point of view. The title "Macbeth" is still so beautiful...33 years later!
1985-89 a great period of the Youth.

My favourite Sonic Youth album, from the late noisy 80s. A collage of weird Madonna covers and tribal distortion guitars.
Still fresh and humorous and hysteric.

I had this album in the '80s when it came out but never played it much. I played the 12" more but I sold 'em both way back.
I bought the CD yesterday as I saw it cheap. It's improved with age I think. Putting that minute of silence as the second track is a strange idea. Unsettling.
Like the other guy said - there is a Faust vibe to the record. I'm enjoying it.
Back in the '80s I had three giant hoarding type posters for this album ... plus three enormous posters for Skin (the Swans spin-off band project). I had up in my room along one wall and they looked great. Wish I still had them but I left them up when I moved house. Oh well.

Why still no criticism or comments for this record !!! I love Sonic Youth since the last 80's , but for me this album (concept) is for me the best .. Finally one that most represents me , the one I most listened , and finally the one I more introduced into dj- set. Perhaps because it's not Sonic Youth but Ciccone Youth , is that there ... it is more like that of Faust would invite The Residents for beef from Kevin Shields and Sonic (Youth) Boom .. Anyway for me it distorts not at all their discography but their travels a more experimental another facet that alternative .. from very good to me .. Too bad there 's never been on .. but you get tired of listening to over and over again...
