For a company that promotes itself as a purveyor of quality product, moat LITA releases are off-center junk, and this is no exception, because they had it pressed at Rainbo, and Rainbo is notorious for pressings that are off center. A real waste of time, money, and vinyl

The music is amazing. The sound of this pressing is fine, they achieved a good and balanced mix, but it has quite some sibilance. The record itself has a lot to improve: although I bought it off the shelf, the color of the vinyl is somewhat opaque, and it came with a few hairlines and white (milky) stains; the edge is very sharp, and the center labels were cracked around the center hole (which by the way is a little bit too narrow). Speaking about that, the record is a bit off-centered, at least on side A. Nice packaging, though. I would give it 3.5 stars - not possible, so I give it 3 then.

My copy shows the same characteristics and runouts, only the vinyl is black. I guess the limited edition in white vinyl is over.

...whooah dig it, and dig it long and hard as this outta-site monster slab has got to be one of the alltime future/primitive thudding beat rackets ever laid on a cat and it burst upon the scene in that pivital '66 year...the sound here is behind/out of/all over time in style yet way in front and forward looking with its attack squadron ferocity...the way their weapons mesh with retardo/militaristic strumming banjo that just keeps on and on and on, the frenzy of squeaky otherworld keyboards that does place it in the garage slightly but this ain't no kids rocking out the best they can, these are pilots of the future come to save rock'n'roll from becoming stranded as art which was entirely possible given the year...guitar mangling that not too many cats have ever come close to, this pure abandoned free form yet tight noise, once heard never forgotten...oversized tambourines that are relentlessly thumped when needed plus the drums pounding and pounding from start to finish...as a whizzo bonus to all this gaggle they were American g.i's doing time in the land of the autobahn keeping everyone free from communist invasion and any one getting to see any footage dig how their audience hardly ever put a peeper on them and when they do its quickly sneaked glances as if to stare at these mighty gods could invite vibrations too heavy for normal humans...must be handled with care and respect and it will repay like not too many other slabs could ever think of matching...one of those rarefied biscuits that's number one in a field of one, and that's rare, something to treasure in these times of conformity and delusion...

• Henry Rollins likes Monks, and you should too. In the mid-sixties, these proto-proto-proto-punks decided to vent their spleen at being stationed as GIs in Germany by dressing in robes and shaving their heads like monks (imagine a flattop with a reverse Mohawk) and playing the most blistering music they could. The results are so undeniably punk that it’s hard to see why these guys don’t ever get mentioned in the same breath as other forefathers of that genre.

Highly recommended garage/proto-punk (some even say proto-metal) LP, originally released in 1966. This reissue has been superseded by the recent Light in the Attic 2xLP one, but still, an overall nice piece. Album-wise, you either like it or you don't. Heavier than most stuff coming out of the states at the time (FYI: the band was US servicemen, who performed and recorded this LP in Germany, after army release), but in no way psychedelic.
