Found this yesterday, great copy... has 'promotional DJ sticker' on front of jacket with 3 recommended cuts for radio play (Canon, Moves & Flowers For A Lady)- but WHY omitted?! where are those 2 CD bonus tracks? why never a definitive edition? like everytime if you want all you're forced to purhase multiple releases!
- Wow, TOTAL Knock Out for sound quality, perfectly balanced discreet QUAD mix. and great ensemble jazz playing. Don't pass on this if you are on the fence here.

I adore this album. Prob my personal favorite Mingus album personally. Through and through has always pleased and certainly helped me through some crazy times as well. Beautiful piece!- I'm very sorry, I want to buy this CD (Mingus Moves) but I can't pay with a Visa credit card and don't know how to use Paypal, whiv=ch in any case I've been advised not to use...
Mel Dadswell - My copy has -MO suffix on labels but GP PR etched into the runout. Have I to do a new entry? Thanks.

There are so many wonderful Mingus records spanning his entire career and Mingus Moves is a highlight from the mid 70s. Every track is consistently great, but my 3 favorites are Wee (pianist Don Pullen's playing and solo are exceptional), Flowers For a Lady (especially tasty tenor sax by George Adams) and the closer, Opus 3 (featuring Chazz's beautiful bass lines and great intuitive interplay by the whole ensemble). I've been going through Mingus' entire discography after reading his autobiography Beneath the Underdog and this LP really stood out from the later period recordings.referencing Mingus Moves (LP, Album, Quadraphonic) QD 1653
Coming up with his new group, Charles Mingus created a wonderful, intensively and haunting record.
It opens up with the great Canon, on which Georg Adams and Ronald Hampton blow some amazingly suggestive figures, before drum and bass kick into a tune that could be a missing track of some timewarped Sketches of Spain remain. Opus 4 gets really funky. Moves is a very nice vocal track, floating fragile. Hard to imagine that drummer Dannie Richmond just came back from some exkursions into rock, teasing his kit so gently. Wee follows up with great soli by all, especially Don Pullen on piano. The tempo rises up and down again on this meditative track. Georg Adams brings in the great Flowers for a Lady, another highlight on this platter, that has no fillers, just killers.
For my opinion a true masterpiece of sublime beauty, that has a timeless charme. Very relaxed and at the same time forcefully. The quintet does an excellent job on this seven recent tunes.
Good chance to get an original copy of this highly recommended Mingus gem.
