Joni Mitchell – Mingus

As someone who doesn't give a fuck about jazz this is one of the greatest albums ever. "Audio Paintings" she called the songs. Awesome.

This particular pressing is off the charts! I bought a random $6 pressing at the record store and it blew me away.

So well-engineered that you can hear what she's wearing!

(It's also a really good album, but the way it *sounds*? WOW.)

I am replaying many of my records purchased decades ago, this Canadian pressing sounds fantastic. Mine was purchased when it was released and still sounds wonderful.

This is one great mastering and pressing. One of my best sounding albums, right up there with the Mofi’s & Audio Sounds I own, including the one steps & clarity vinyls.

cant say that i love just because of how out there it is but apart from the talking in the beginning of the album i quite like the lack of a proper beat or structure. one must resign themselves to it to maybe enjoy it

This reissue sounds amazing. This is really an audiophile reissue.

Outstanding music. Outstanding subject and theme (RIP Mingus). Outstanding musicians (Joni, Herbie, Jaco, Wayne, Peter Erskine, Don Alias, Emil Richards anyone?). Outstanding mastering (BG). Wow.

And yes, if you like Joni, this is as good as her best and ranks alongside Blue, Hejira, Hissing, C&S, DJRD. Must have.

If you like your Joni Mitchell with a side of Herbie Hancock, Jaco Pastorius, and Wayne Shorter, look no further. These are legit jazz musicians performing on this release, although noticeably restrained in their sidemen roles. Joni's mature voice is honey-toned and warm.
This is a loving tribute to Charles Mingus, and achieves that quite successfully.
This pressing is excellent. Sounds beautiful, actually.

This record is stunning. Really, Ms Mitchell at her best.
