Yes, full of glitches starting on track 1 right until the end of the CD. I am surprised nobody never noticed this, especially at A&M.

Anyone experience digital glitches throughout, starting on track 3? I looked at the disc and there doesn't appear to be any imperfections.

The followup to the phenomenally successful Night and Day, this album was also very successful and continued Joe Jackson's exploration of his New York jazz sound, with an album cover a homage to a Sonny Rollins album. The digital recording is awesome, one of the earliest examples of a digital recording done right and often used as a "demo" CD for audiophiles. The LP retains much of the dynamic sound of the CD but is mastered at a slightly low level to accomodate CD peaks.

This album is...interesting. It has some of Joe's best songs and arrangements. It also contains some of the cheeiest songs ever penned by Jackson or any other artist for that matter. You Can't Get What You Want (Till You Know What You Want), Go For It, and Happy Ending, are just, well, pure schmaltz. Case in point, this lyric from Go For It,
"Everybody's wasting time.
Everybody stands in line.
Think of "Babe Ruth"
And you think of hot dogs and beer
But if he can hit a home run, so can you,
And your weight is just nowhere near.
Am I making myself quite clear?"

Not too much words. A musical blessing. It looks like everybody's envolved are in higher musical dimension. Congrats Joe Jackson.

This is one of my favorite LP's that I have listened to. The effort to have an honest stage and depth is very easy to enjoy. If you think you have a good 2 channel listening room, you must add this to you want & get it. Also it plays start to finish very well. This is a good album. Note: Did anybody have any trackability problems, sibilance. My copy had 2 or 3. Probably my inferior cartridge? The cd does not have this, may be a worn LP.

Don’t Wait in the Wings
It seems the main trait of Body and Soul is its musical refinement. “Some people live so fast, they're so scared of getting old. Some people keep on working, all they do is line their graves with gold. We don't know what happens when we die, we only know we die too soon but we have to try or else our world becomes a waiting room…” And Joe Jackson tries hard. All the melodies boast rich, almost rhapsodic orchestration and the songwriting is at the top of creativity. “These words of love so hard for me to find. How can I change my mind if you can only lie? These shattered dreams I try to build again but looks could kill again and I'm too young to die. Smiling faces all around us, you don't want to make a scene – not here, not now and I don't want to cry.” Both “Not Here, Not Now” and “Heart of Ice” are terribly moody and they are the best songs on the album.
