David Bowie – Let's Dance

It's like I'm hearing this album for the first time, more than 40 years later. Yes, it is very bass-and-drums-forward. The sound seems to suit Nile's post-disco production much better than the Canadian pressing I bought in the '80s. It's very tight, and seems quite danceable. (Although I won't subject my wife to my Gen-X teen moves.)

Great pressing, totally silent. The album has always had that overproduced gated-snare tinny highs 80s sheen to it, so not sure why anyone would expect anything different?

My third, great sounding David Bowie re-issue. To my ears this sounds fantastic and is another pristine Optimal pressing. Rotationally the pressing is dead flat and whisper silent. (with an Ortofon 2m Black). My only quibble is a slight dish ward. So if your cartridge is sensitive to VTA settings you have to adjust to compensate.
(PS I used to have a 1983 pressing and I don't remember it being so clear, dynamic and engaging.)

Picked up an original 1983 copy, and it's a joy to listen to. Expansive sound, warm, full bodied.

It was in the rack next to a recent ultra limited reissue, which was about 5 times more expensive.

I do think this is a really good sounding pressing. It's dynamic, has a nice soundstage & bass... However this sounds very "polished", one can tell this was mastered digitally. Out of curiosity I got me an OG pressing too, and I agree with one reviewer that it has a much warmer sound to it. You can't really do no wrong with this reissue (unless you're a vintage vinyl enthusiast), but for me the '83 press wins :)

This sounds phenomenal. All that was best about 80s production. Warm and full of life. And, as a bass player myself, I have to love how clear and present the bass is on this.

This album is a Bowie 80's master class. So good right through.

Saw this for a Canadian tenner and thought what the hell.
Its on the border of my fave era.
Holy shmoly it sounds absolutely fantastic!
To think kiddoes were listening to this audiophile level release back then.
Its cheap everywhere.
Do yourself a favour and grab it even if you are borderline like me.

My copy sounds exactly like my old copy sounded in 1983.
