Scritti Politti – Cupid & Psyche 85

A superb pressing and beautifully presented here with gold embossed text and a vibrant red vinyl. This album was a bit of a game changer back in 1985 and it still sounds remarkably intricate with superb stereo separation that is evident on this HMV edition. Wax is dead silent too and you can grab this for under 20 pounds at HMV right now - that's 2015 vinyl prices! Absolute bargain.

I had the CD but the vinyl is much better. Arif Mardin behind the controls, very well done expansive, bouncy and airey synth pop.

This the perfect 80's era Synth-Pop album. Very catchy. The 12" singles from this one were even better.

Horrible mastering, way over the top, and 'Perfect Way' has echo on the vocals that isn't on the original.
Original is way better.

Don’t normally review vinyl but had to with this. It’s now my go to record to show off my system. Sounds wonderful. Not one pop or crackle it’s sheer 80s perfection.

Well-crafted well-written & well-produced 80's synth-pop/pseudo-funk w/ breathy vocals, massive synth-keys, syndrums, fretless bass & clean production result in melodic bliss full of melodramatic effects textures & shimmering soundscapes.
Dazzling & immensely lovable.

just got this pressing at a store in NYC. it sounds amazing - no crackles, every instrument hefty and the soundstage is massive and spacious.

This includes the original / initial mix of "Perfect Way" that appeared on (most) 1985 vinyl versions of the album. The version on the CD pressings (and Japanese vinyl) from that time included a sightly longer, differently mixed version. Clearly, the initial masters for the vinyl version were used for this reissue (which is beautifully presented by the way).
