Notes
An ambitious "Solo" project with 4 special records was released in 1978. Their 4 Solo albums were released simultaneously in one day. The record label apparently invested about $2.5 million on marketing and promotions for the solo project. For the USA market and vinyl pressing, LP's featured a special jigsaw poster of each member that when you purchased all 4 solo LP's connected together into one large poster or mural. Also included in the unique releases was a Kiss Army/merchandise order form, and custom inner photo sleeve showing all of the 4 releases.

- This is the best Kiss Album...there...I said it..the album where Ace showed who truly rocked in the band
- This review is for the original Ace Frehley Solo Album. I have a near mint promo Casablanca – NBLP 7121. Up until now I had only heard the cd and spotify versions. This version is pressed on dead quiet vinyl and is a new level. Fractured Mirror is much more detailed and the separation is amazing. The songs all sound fuller and there is much more frequency range. Must be heard to understand. I was literally startled at the enhanced sound of this recording. It is an absolutely better sounding recording. Really a different level. A+ for anyone considering adding this version to their collection.
- Edited one year agoAce's solo effort is probably the hardest rocking and least quirky compared to the others... especially Gene's. I thought that "Ozone" and "I'm In Need Of Love" were pretty ordinary tracks... but all four solo albums have at least two clunkers on them. This is the only KISS "solo" album I bought back in the day because of the "New York Groove" single and it remains my favourite track on the whole album, the rest of which is pretty much forgettable. The picture disc looks cool and sounds fine, but it IS a picture disc and with that come the usual issues... mostly that low-level hum between tracks. The PVC inner sleeve the record comes in was never a good idea.
- Edited one year agoA solid solo effort from Space Ace Frehley. Let's face it, he's the weakest singer in KISS, but he makes up for it with some rockin' catchy hooks, and killer drumming from Anton Fig. (Can you imagine if KISS had Anton instead of Peter?!)
The record is a guitar feature and Ace accomplishes this nicely with melodic leads, catchy riffs, and some burning solos, presumably on his Les Paul Custom.
Highlights are his cover of Russ Ballard's "New York Groove", "Rip It Out", and the ever catchy, drug inspired "Snow Blind".
The audio is quite good with a pro mix. Perhaps Eddie Kramer had something to do with that. I prefer Paul's record of the four, but Ace is a very close second. Great job Ace!

Why are the inserts backwards on these versions and are they considered misprints?referencing Ace Frehley (Cassette, Album) NBL5-7121
Does anybody know why the insert is backwards on this version?- My copy of this LP has a printing error on the sleeve. It looks like a strip of tape has removed all the blue down one side of the face. A manufacturing issue. It's unusual.
- No review on this release? I’ve got one coming for 26.00. With the poster I think that’s a good deal!
