David Gilmour – About Face

This edition sounds dampened but still dynamic. The best tracks standout, Murder and Cruise, for example.

Track length printed on disc label for A1, "Until We Sleep", is mistaken. It is the same length as on the various CD releases: approx 5:15 to 5:18 (track fades in and out).

Picked this up recently after not hearing it since the original release and forgot how fantastic this album is.

A bit muffled sounding on a few of the songs, but find this album a very nice listen anyway. Gilmour still sounds great, and his guitar playing is as always, out of this world. Agree with opinion below regarding On An Island and Rattle That Lock, that sound amazing and are more outstanding solo efforts from Gilmour.

Great album, mediocre pressing. The full band material sounds a bit stuffy and muffled. Those are also the tracks that sound the most dated. Sparer tracks (like “Murder” and even “You Know I’m Right”) fare better.

David's first post-Pink Floyd is a fantastic listen from start to finish. This pressing is quite good too - very clear with musical depth and a decent separation of instruments.

Maybe its because it came out when I was a teenager, maybe its just because it is great but this is my favorite of all the Floyd solos. "Murder" is by far the best rack on this album. I have this on every playlist I've made to this day. "All Lovers are Deranged" is also a personal favorite. Completely underrated and missing in the annals of rocks best!!

This is the same as https://www.discogs.com/release/3873569-David-Gilmour-About-Face US pressing releases and mixed by Legacy in 2006. These are just a few dollars and the remaster is even listed the same as this release.

I compared this to the original CD release. It sounds basically the same with a slight volume boost. There is a little peaking at louder portions but not a lot. This release is not over compressed as far as I can tell. The last track 'Near the End' outro is extended allowing you to hear more of Gilmour's lead. I actually like that, it's a small thing but any chance to hear him play is a good thing to me.

I used to have the CD from the 1990s, which I always thought sounded fine. Now I got this remastered CD and I was very surprised: it sounds *MUCH* superior. The difference is night and day. This one has a lot more bass and the instruments and vocals all sound much sharper. In addition: this one has lyrics and photos in the booklet, which my old Brazilian CD did not have at all.
