In comparison with Human Elements 2003 this is a fast paced album of on-going rollers.
It's not filled with "halftime" or chopped beats but rinsing (amen) rollers. And I like it. Some might find the beats to repetitive.
Coming back to it in 2023 only longing for more of these.
Albums filled with Liquid, Happy and uplifting rollers.- Edited 8 years ago'Waiting', now that is a tune of real quality. The vocal hook is beautiful, the bass is driving and searching, and the break is so light and skippy it just works so so well. The layering is stunning on this track, uplifting and delicate stuff but with dance floor sensibilities.
'Feels Like Heaven' is another driving tune, this time a little more funky and liquid. It has a lovely horn bass, more smooth vocal licks and nice disco vibes too. Lovely summer roller.
'Free Your Mind' - The groove on this track is so catchy with a nice double bass jazz hook, nice organ keys and nice tight Amen break. Another rolling beauty of a tune and a dance floor smasher.
'Let Me Love You' with Bun is another great roller with some nice deep liquid elements. Again subtle driving basslines, vocal hooks and gated sweeping keys layered along with flutes and funk lines.
Classy stuff from the man from Japan. - Edited 9 years agoI've been told this promo release contains only low-bitrate versions of the tracks. Anyone who can confirm this? Also are the tracks shortened on this release or are these all full length tracks? I hope not because this is the only version that has both Eastern Dub and Let Me Love You.

Ok. That is true: "Human Elements" had problems when it tried hard to be an acid-jazz records, and it also felt too much like a variation of Bukem's "Journey Inwards". Whenever the album got away from drum n' bass, it didn't work half as well.
So we have this new pure drum'n bass album, which is nice, ok, great. But what was excessive in the previous one, is absolutely lacking in this one: variation. Many songs share the same loops, the same tricks, the same schema, and even the same melodic lines. Some are very good taken separately, but as a whole this is more a sample album than an album itself - and at worse,an album of sketches. Only the wonderful, haunting, "Waiting" works as something that flies from the routine.
Makoto, maybe a middle ground next time would be good.
