This album is a gem and a testament to the Ninjatune vibe of the era. Very disappointing that his later work is high school tier guitar-and-whining, and that he persisted in releasing these steaming piles instead of ever going back to the sound of Fresh Produce.referencing Fresh Produce (2×LP, Album) NTONE 39
Before Fink got bored with beatmaking and went full singer / songwriter in the noughties, he produced some dope shit for the connaisseur in the nineties. Very cool album with lotsa swagger, effortlessly combining instrumental hiphop, breakbeats, dub, jazz, and R&B. A record which stood the test of time and which I hold very dearly ever since its release.- Edited 4 years ago

The sample “He’s worked in every hell hole in the world and been fired from all of them they say he’s the best..... He is” is from the movie Split Second (1992) referencing Fresh Produce (2×LP, Album) NTONE 39
Beautiful album, a lovely listen from beginning to end, nearly 20 years after release and it is still fresh produce!referencing Fresh Produce (CD, Album) NTONE CD 39

perhaps if this were have to been released on Ninja Tune instead of its sublable, this album might have gotten a bit more attention. as it is, it might be considered a hidden trip-hop gem of sorts. Fink manages to combine some interesting sampling with a full range of various trip-hop and breakbeat type beats, but with his own unique style. the whole album is filled with tasteful and mellow composition, complimented by a good sense of humor. referencing Fresh Produce (CD, Album) NTONE CD 39
Fink’s debut, Fresh Produce, may appear on Ntone, but there’s no reason why it shouldn’t have been on Ninja Tune: “Tubb Journey” is a sweet downtempo track, complemented by a heavy drum that sounds like someone knocking against a tub. “We Are Ninja” is reminiscent of Depth Charge’s early work, incorporating kung-fu movie samples into a song -- but it’s much softer and almost… sexy. Fink samples from a wide array, which keeps his tracks lively. All DJs and music junkies can relate to “Ever Since I Was A Kid (Pt. 1). “Celebrity Speedtrap” is slightly darker, but no less smooth. For eclectic and exciting music, you can’t get fresher than this.
