      My copy is free of audible noise and crackling.
      Nevertheless, I am disappointed with the quality of the recording.
      The sound is strange, the edge frequencies are emphasized. The middle frequencies are suppressed so Elisabeth's voice is unnatural. I don't have the original album (1994) or CD so I have no way to compare. I have almost all the Cocteau Twins albums from 4AD but none sound like this... The album was listened to on the three independent setups.
      It's a shame because it's very nice dream music.

        Such a great record and mine sounds fantastic. I have quite a few Cocteau Twins including originals and reissues. This is up there in my top 3 albums by them. Just a clean, clear, dreamy ride. The voices really shine on my setup.

              Wow what an amazing album. I completely ignored it at the time as I was so in love with earlier albums (Garlands, Treasure, Head Over Heels). I bought into negative hype and never gave it a chance. Well I've owned this vinyl copy for ages, but dont remember listening to it until now. What a shame. This version sounds perfect, especially at high volume. The balance between the instrumentation and vocals is sweetly perfect. Masters and released before the 1995 loudness wars means this is a unique and beautiful album.

                Superb pressing on quiet vinyl that perfectly renders the ear pleasing euphonic glory of Elizabeth Fraser’s heavenly vocals better than all the digital versions I have ever heard. To be able to do that against the Robin Guthrie wall of sound is no small feat - but on songs like Bluebeard and Oil of Angels, two of my favorite Cocteau Twins songs, it is a stunning, perfectly executed production with Liz’s vocal upfront and center, clear and crisp, big and bold, with her own sweet harmonies accompanying her on the left and the right within a soundscape that takes up every bit of the space between the walls - just insanely beautiful. Get a clean copy if you can find one - it’s DEFINITELY worth it!

                    The drummers didn't perform on the album, only live. I have no idea why people keep listing them as performers uncredited???

                      What copy has these "credits" for the drummer and the percussionist who only performed with the band live? Unless one of the versions had the acoustic version of Bluebeard added as a bonus track or something... Otherwise, there were no live drummers on the album.
