Mazzy Star – Among My Swan

My copy, bought on release has the numbered print (002401). I have no idea why it is 6 digits long!!

5 stars for it being a great album but yeah the pressing sucks. Lots of pops and clicks from pressing defects. This needs a proper new reissue asap

I got a sealed copy in the mail last week, my boyfriend was able to get me a copy at a decent price. Right out of the seal, it had a lot of pops and cracks. No skips though thank goodness. After multiple cleanings as well as allowing the needle to play through the grooves a few times, I think my copy sounds pretty good. The jacket is made out of a very thick quality cardstock. Love it so much

Among My Swan is probably the band's most tedious album in their discography, its slow and more melancholic than their other work. I use to own a plain reissue of this album back in 2020 when the repress occurred. Bought it and sold it within a year cause I thought I enjoyed the album. Over the years I've listened to it again and again, and over time I've come to appreciate the album more. I bought a UK original copy and listened to it today. Already this pressing blows the plain reissue out the water. While yes, you may have to crank the volume up, it's totally worth it, its such a dynamic pressing compared to the plain reissue. I own the US cassette and this vinyl pressing sounds similar to it. To anyone wanting to buy this album, a cassette or original pressing is the move; and be patient, the album might not click for a few listens, but it is the definitive Mazzy Star album.

My local record store has this (in used bin), cover and vinyl look NM-, almost untouched but the surface noise was horrible. I’d avoid.

I can attest that this is a great pressing of this Mazzy Star classic - I had an original pressing which was just as quiet but lots of ticks and pops throughout, this pressing is better than the original and I sold it and kept this one

I know Plain Recordings has a reputation for ropey pressings, but I picked up their "Among My Swan" last year and it honestly sounds utterly immaculate, truly worthy of the heavenly music on this album. It's unfortunate that they botched the vinyl release of so many other brilliant albums... but on this one, at least, they got it right.

Stunning pressing of their best album to date. I have an OG copy, and this blows the OG pressing clear out of the water. Amazing dynamics and highly crankable. So glad I got mine at an inexpensive price when it was first released..

My 1996 pressing looks perfect but is noisy -- pops and crackles. But it still sounds great overall, and some tracks are sublime. Worth it? Probably not, but this is one of my faves, so there it is. The Capitol repress of So Tonight is wonderful. If only they would repress Among My Swan as well. (BTW, no And don't get me going on Plain. Possibly the worst repress company out there.)
