The 40th anniversary (2012) single John, I'm Only Dancing (Original Single Version) b/w John, I'm Only Dancing (Sax Version) [1973; Aladdin Sane Sessions] doesn't belong under any of the above Master Releases as this single contains the original 1972 version and the 1973 'sax' version (recorded during the Aladdin Sane sessions), which weren't combined together as a single before.

- I wasn't aware this single was going for so much money now! (stupid me for opening the seal, but hey-ho)
Anyway, as you might be shelling out £50+ for this 7", just be aware that there is a pressing fault (at least on my copy). The original A-side version of 'John...' sounds terrible, very distorted in places with a few small drop-outs. Sounds for all the world like it's being played on a crisp packet when you put the needle on it. I know it's a picture disc and the sound quality's not usually A-grade, but it should still be playable. Through headphones it sounds particularly awful.
Strangely, the '73 sax version on the b-side sounds brilliant. Very odd. Thankfully I prefer that version anyway. 
Can't find my copy among the listed releases. It's close but no cake to a couple of them.

Note the RCA sleeve, which says 1971, making me think it should be one of the 1972 releases.
Two different (music) versions of 'John, I'm only dancing' were released by RCA in the UK during 1972/3. Both have the same cat#: RCA 2263. The original version has stamped matrix numbers BGBS 1056. The less common 'Sax' version has etched matrix numbers BGBS·1056·A·2E and the word 'STEREO' is not printed on the label. For more info, visit this excellent website (no cnnection with me):
