One of the most underrated albums of the 90s for sure. All three albums by Scenic are masterworks in atmosphere and composition, but this one in particular is lightning in a bottle. As dry and desolate as the southwestern landscapes which inspired it, this record takes you on an auditory journey through cracked earth and vast underwater tunnels. Or at least that’s how I imagine it. Oh and I forgot to mention this pressing sounds incredible.referencing Acquatica (CD, Album) WD0038-2
Imagine you lived in one of Frank Lloyd Wright's houses... sigh. It was a warm summer day in the late afternoon. You were walking thru the entire complex in stocking feet across laminated wooden floors towards the surrounding porch that observed the lake only a stone's throw away. On passing the audio electronics, you placed Acquatica in the CD player tray. 74 minutes and 23 seconds later, the sun was turning the cloudless royal blue sky a beautiful hue of reddish orange.
Time and space were one.
Suddenly, you remember where you are, breath the air deeply, and get up to lean against the rail. You turn around - your back to the lake - and walk across the spacious room to the CDP again... hit replay, and head back to the porch....
