Insane that there's no review here yet. Weird Energy is the cut on this one. Perhaps Hype's best track ever, IMO.

I saw on a YouTube video someone say Danny Breakz co-produced and scratched for I can't understand it which makes total sense if you listen to the scratch at the beginning. Hype is a good scratch DJ no one can deny but the scratching sounds more like Danny Breakz like in the flowers in my garden EP.

The sample "Energy And Consciousness" is from a George Harrison interview, just stumbled over it via Soundbreaking

This record exudes proper ardcore menace, and predates 'ill manors' by 20 odd years. What to do with inner city ruff necks?? My fave part is that sound - wtf is it? how to describe it? - in the middle the rhythm stops and then this sort of blurting bass sounds erupts - used to rewind that bit over and over!

This 12" represents DJ Hype at his best. The beats are typical 93 hardcore breaks, quite fast, but its the originality in the samples and overall track direction that set DJ Hype's 93 sound in a class of its own.
Both tracks have a quite dark overall sound to them, and are closer to the 'Jungle' sound than any other genre. 'Shot In The Dark' has the famous 'hear de gunshot' vocal sample over a great breakbeat and moody deep bassline, plenty of different sections to keep you interested.
The best tune imo is 'I Cant Understand It' which has an amazing beginning starting with a great vocal and unreal scratching which sets the tone for the main start of the track. It is a crazy mixture of breaksbeats, samples, and none typical sounds, adding up to a fantastic tune which really stands out to me as one of his best.
These tunes were hammered by the pirate radios I used to listen to, and they still sound as fresh today as back then.
