Notes

Released in mono and stereo (Deram DML 1007/SML 1007, UK, June 1967). The US edition (Deram DE 16003/DES 18003), which has a blue instead of white rim, was released in August. This edition omits the tracks 'We Are Hungry Men' and 'Maid of Bond Street.' This 12 track version was also released in Canada.
Other 1967 editions have the 14 tracks included on the UK edition.

Most reissues are of the 14 track stereo edition, the mono edition being first officially reissued circa 2010. Some editions around this period contain many extra tracks, usually on a second disc.

A few reissues revert to only 12 tracks, but not the same 12 as the 1967 North American release.

The following track list applies to the 14 track album.

Best pressing you can hear. But good luck hunting for it unless you’re spending $400 or more. It’s a beautiful gem.

One of the most horrendously sounding picture discs you will ever hear.
I’ve collected a lot by various different artists and although there is a varying degree in degradation with them this one take the absolute urine.

Actually it's still an impressive achievement if we glance down mod memory lane old cockney old mockney oldHackney(ed) old Kent Lane dontcha know geezer and geezerette read ya ol times gazette and you'll spy the music hall Tommy trinder from a lad that really ain't quite so shy. Give it a try. N I guarantee you'll work out why.. it works because with a wink n a smile and all the stories by the mile you'll see a prefiguration of punk n I dote all the while with a nod n a wink wink on ya country mile you'll be amongst bashful ladies at the turnstile, maybe Sioux with Severin hand in hand, amongst the boys growing up leaving Bromley suburbs- not for Hamleys but nouve'auteuresque ballads and resetting the standards-negotiate the big world adopt a theatrical persona maybe a ziggy to arise from a coma but to get there and make a stand and have to rely on your guile. Join in and smile again and again n you will understand how this highly original work is a preultravox John foxx guide to acoustic Cockney shocks that are poetic ditties Patrick Fitzgerald Heralds and what Paul Weller in another perspective of focus out of a fish n chip salt cellar will sell ya if you have the time to spare and a penny for the organ grinder don't just stop and stare you will chant these worthy tales so unfashionable with your hard bowie rockers and later with the duke himself. Please rediscover, I don't think you'll come a cropper...join the gang you might get a medal for your application- buy your bombardier toys and join bowie's merry throng: the Americans dreamy eyed and summer of love tied could never have to bowie's sharp witty genius their hopes and spaced out aspirations to the stars have applied if their lazy hazy brains had to delve thru the deram early bowie down to earth dickensian urchin's madness as a prop archive. This isn't Jerry Garcia guitar hero psychedelia. This is Lou Reed stock poetica and that says everything maaan, dontcha know, when u consider their latter stages friendship in the 70's and the direct toning it all down(town) punchier
guttural and waxing lyrical infuence both had on new wave or punk later. And why we need this record now. The honest voices of Nico Joni Mitchell or Poney era Ronstadt or the later pre Bebop northern dream of Bill Nelson are now probably in their simplicity the few similar hipster companions for this alongside Reed's solo stanchions that grew out of Dylan like bowie's earthy busking emanation. That's his only hippy concession and its all the more crucial a procession. And couple this with his street and music hall focus that's entertainment where his urban(e) wide-angle lens soaks us up. Oh do just take this burgeoning and very upwardly confident young man's wondrous mind and voice in your wanton stride go along for the magic ride. A different kind to the sergeant pepper contemporaneous tide. This wasn't the flavour of the month. But you soon saw how he fits in with small faces cockney ides of harsh march and those of poetic lynott on his first lp don't cast these odes of woe and mirth aside. It's a wonderland. So don't listen to the naysayers. They are too rocked out with subsequent pop and heaviness. Woebetide you ignore this gem at peril. Tarry a while I say don't hide. All bowie's efforts can now be by your phonogramside. To be placed alongside your blurs your marriott vinyl chariots and all your punk inspirational traces to compete in all backwater places. See where you come to as you wander, see the backroads sidestreets and the cloth-capped mode. Anthony Newley started something special. You'll think this Davy Jones had far more in his locker than you cd give him credit for. Take the red bus round London and jam along. Step in time. Oh to be by Bow(ie) bells sounding resounding. 'there is a land', there is a space in time where it all gets quiet and you'll hear and wanna make like a street punk and sing your heart out. An oddity. A novelty. A special commodity. The Marquee gigging sax playing semiacoustic soho Mod ligging with Ken busking stage transitioning Variety boardtreading West End Broadway living all the while social streaming through free verse gleaming all asked Who are you just like your Townshends and your Marriotts do now you know to make your voice heard that this is the mask of self projection in swinging London and like the cover it's a pose just like ya have to. We can hear this voice better now in our time than the wall of sound expectant ones perhaps could then even though this artful dodger ironically went on to be a brasher showman than the Tom Joneses of his day in his own way.. anyway!
Gnomically laughing at all.that is estimable and not so comestible from.this already then 24hour partying chappie nonsaint this thankfully ain't that quaint- though something borrowed defo something new.as.fresh as then.. as.with early Townshend and later Weller- sounds from the street gripping you changing you punking you
