referencing The Preface (2×LP, Album) ELZ001
Before today the only emcee I could name from Little Brother was Phonte. Now after hearing "The Preface", I won't be forgetting Elzhi. Black Milk's production is phat and filled with soul throughout the tape and "Fire Remix" is the definition of a posse cut, with Dany Brown and Fatt Father's appearances bringing a smile to my face when they popped up.
The Interlude's reminded me of "The Psycho Realm" or "Watch The Throne", turning the audio experience cinematic with these small intermissions to push the loose narratives forward.
"Talking In My Sleep" in the vein of Cage's "Among The Sleep" is a sure favorite as well as the red pill (before there was a red pill) anthem "Transitional Joint".
"The Preface" is filled with loose narratives that could all turn into their own albums and production primarily handled by Black Milk. If this is "The Preface" then it stands to reason why Elzhi's discography has many more volumes to explore that must stand to compare to this stellar '08 effort.
