Cocteau Twins – Heaven Or Las Vegas

Was tempted by the latest repress, but held off after reading some of the comments here. Got lucky and found this pressing at a nice price - it really does the music justice, the bass in particular is really nice - what an album.

Would you guys say this version is the best-sounding repress of this album?

Just received and I do not believe this is a worthwhile repress. Non-vocal higher frequencies seem compressed and noisy, while certain songs are more clear than others. Great album, but I do not recommend this repress. Same issue with the Victorialand repress.

I took a chance on this pressing via a Discogs seller. Though the sleeve seems quite thin (not sure if the original is that way) and the record itself is also not very heavy, the the sound quality seems great! I was very comforted because there's lots of bickering about which pressings are best. Recommended.

Like another reviewer noted, the runout on my pressing is 130250E1/B. Could not find any other releases with this marking.

Pressing sounds fantastic. As others have noted the mastering is bright, but still dynamic and punchy. Pleased with mine.

Miles better than the horrendous 2014 repressing, they fixed the pressing issues that plagued that repress! (Most notably the huge woosh effect on Iceblink Luck), plus the title track actually sounds pretty clear on my setup (there was some IGD on the ‘14 pressing). Easily a must buy if you don’t want to shell out money for an OG pressing.

this pressing sounds great. Cherry colored funk sounds amazing. title track doesn't sound as good, but overall I am very impressed. great pressing.

Absolutely beautiful art on the sleeve, labels, and insert. The mastering here is phenomenal. Even though it's remastered to digital from analog tapes, it sounds fantastic. Quite deep, punchy, and crisp, and a touch bright. It could maybe have a bit more bass, but I'm not complaining. For how saturated it gets, I'm surprised there's no distortion at high volumes. Very spacious too especially for only being 1LP with 5 tracks per side. It's way too easy to get lost in this with headphones on. The only caveat here is that it *is* a GZ pressing, and my copy has intermittent very light surface noise (quiet crackles under the music) occasionally throughout each side, and a single quiet pop on side A. The space between tracks and leading into the first track on each side is a bit more noisy however, but thankfully when the music picks up any noise is pretty much drowned out. If you can get this for $25 or less it's definitely worth it, but I would not recommend paying $30+ for this GZ pressing.

EDIT: This is a 2015 release, but I purchased this from a recent wave of restocks in 2022, which many seem to think are coming from the more recent MPO represses. So the 2022 restocks that are happening right now are coming from this release, rather than the most recent MPO pressing.

This one sounds excellent to me. Best way to describe the difference between this and the original UK is this one has less treble and shriek but less bass as well. I like the fact that the shriek level is toned down on this press in comparison. Will I sell my OG… no, but I won’t be selling this one either. Hope this helps you decide.
