I found this pre-owned at my local record store and was ecstatic when I came across it. This was one of my most favorite "techno" albums of the early 2000's. Tom Morello co-producing this album really helped to create a new rockier "techno" sound, no doubt being inspired from the Trip Like I Do mash-up with Filter on the Spawn soundtrack. The rockier tracks are a departure from the Vegas sound, but there are enough Vegas style tracks in Tweekend that you still hear that classic TCM sound that we all fell in love with in Vegas. For being a 20 year old vinyl the pressing and sound are absolutely phenomenal! Dance artists know how to bring the bass in vinyl! No one puts in the quality into pressings and sound like dance artists. It has to sound flawless as it was more likely to have a DJ spin it live on the 1's and 2's. I purchased a new vinyl at the same time I purchased this one, the quality of the new vinyl was lacking in both sound and pressing. Pretty sad when 20 year old vinyl sounds better than the new vinyl of today. Everyone knows how amazing and genre defining Vegas is, but IMO Tweekend took what was great about Vegas and improved it.

Thank you for merging the releases. When I was cataloguing my copy I was confused because I wasn't sure if the voucher code counted as its own copy or not.

Second masterpiece released by prime Crystal Method. And a delicate one, as it succeed to a "Vegas" that already set very high standards thanks to sounds that have never been heard in any other release. Never. Period.
That might be a cause of the less acclaimed reception for "Tweekend" at the time : a more "conventional" sound featuring a bunch of large audience guests and arrangements that one might be more customary with if familiar with parties or festive electronic music in general.

Still, it's a heck of a speaker blaster as well as a pure EARGASM. I honestly prefer "Tweekend" over "Vegas", yet by a very narrow margin. The consistency is unreal and both rock & funk infuse perfectly with these beats.
I just regret that there's no soothing female vocals as the ones heard in "Trip Like I Do" or earler tunes such as "Blast", for instance. Nevertheless, I like the variety of the ones featured on this LP, Scott Weiland nailed it on "Murder".

For years, Scott & Ken have succeed to change the atmosphere in their different releases while maintaining their unimitable touch.
Consequently, "Tweekend" may not have the extraterrestrial sounds of "Cherry Twist", "Keep Hope Alive" and "Vapor Trail", but the big beat formula (hip-hop + rock + breakbeat) remained.
"Blowout" is pure old-skool, "Ten Miles Back" also has a cacthy, somewhat nostalgic feel to it and "Ready For Action" got lots of raw power straight from the "Vegas" era.

As far I am concerned, I always have a smile of satisfaction when I see this gem standing close to "Vegas", "Community Service" and "Legion Of Boom".
Not for nothing have I this album cover as my profile pic. Both the music and the pictures are hot, with the background nuclear power plant reflecting nuclear beats that might "pollute" your neighbours' sense of hearing if they're not into it. The sunbathing lady can refer to more chillout vibes heard at times such as "Wild, Sweet and Cool".

However, if the smoke escaping from cooling towers pictured on the cover might not help bringing fresh air to this beach, "Tweekend" sure does sound fresh, more than 20 years after its release.

it's an excellent followup but vegas is still their crowning achievement. the method infused rock in tweekend, which was great, but vegas simply had too many classic tracks. nonetheless, tweekend is a great album on its own.

Oh my god TCM, did it again, and this time its even better. Tweekend is really one of the few master over master pieces ever made, first time i heard the album i was yawnopen. no shit, the tracks have the coolest beats, bass' and guitars, where there constantly is awsome effects in backgrounds. Even tho Tweekend is supreme it still has some negative features, like the vocal on Murder, and that allmost every track reminds a bit of the same. But still Tweekend is a great experience that you can listen to again and again. Nothing can be flawless, even tho this one is really close.

On the whole, a helluva lot better than Vegas but there are a few tracks that give away their Vocal House roots (unforgivable imho). Still, if you're itching to get some Crystal Meth then this is the one to have.
