Notes
Three different cover variations exist:
Original Australian release (St. Peter over New York City)
European release (woman with raven, credited to "Flash & The Pan")
US release (frisbees on the beach with mushroom cloud in the background)
Most CD reissues use the US cover.
The tracklist also varies between the original Australian release (where "The African Shuffle" opens the proceedings) and international releases, which start with the single "Hey St. Peter". The order of Side 2 is identical on all versions except tapes.

Does the 'P' in the matrix make it a Pitman Pressing or was this remastered by Columbia hence the "COLUMBIA NY" stamp in the matrix? Does anyone know what year this was re-issued? It seems it would have to be early 80's since the jackets are still 'paste-over'-not Uni-Pak- and still has no barcode.referencing Flash And The Pan (LP, Album) APLP.035
Ok so I got hooked on Hey St Peter. Odd title yes odd synth oh yes and well made for 1978 before Ultravox/New Order/OMD etc got their footing in the synth pop hierarchy. But what blew me away was the ultra minimalist track Walking in the Rain which I had for decades heard Grace Jones sing. I am convinced these guys wrote the song and she took it into the Grace level! Singer has an odd voice and mainly sings in worded phrases sometimes disjointed but very much listenable. I pick up any of their catalog up I see used which is nary never in the US. I do not think they made much of an impact here in the US which is a pure shame as the music, lyrics and instrumentation is top gear. Thank god for soma.fm's underground 80's for introducing many of to those unsung gems long forgotten.- Best word to describe this album upon first listen is "intriguing"...so I ended up listening to it again. This is genuinely odd music, the lyrics are often delivered in a detached, sardonic style, yet the whole album is catchy as (expletive deleted). The spoken word vocal style had me like "meh", and then "eh?", and then "yeah". Lots of synths on most songs, but it doesn't really sound dated. "Walking In The Rain" is fascinating, like Bowie trying his hand at post-apocalyptic dub poetry. "California" starts out like a lost Michael Nesmith song and then turns into an ambient soundscape. I knew of Vanda/Young from the Easybeats, but this is worlds away from that sound. I dig it. No issues with this pressing, it's got a solid, punchy sound with nicely detailed piano/bass/drums and the vocals and synths riding on top. I've got a white label promo that didn't seem to get much airplay, as it's kinda minty.

Unfortunately, the Renaissance remaster ruined the segue between The African Shuffle and California. At least it sounds good otherwise...referencing Flash And The Pan (LP, Album) APLP.035
The best hooligans from the world of music that I have ever heard! Youthful enthusiasm, mischief in every phrase and in every gesture will not let anyone sit still! The humor and expression are simply amazing. Rightfully deserve one of the most honorable places in my extensive collection. I fell in love with them - as soon as I heard for the first time back in 1978, when I accidentally bought this vinyl album.referencing Flash And The Pan (LP, Album) APLP.035
This badly needs a reissue! Always loved their style. Spooky vocals and good atmospheres.referencing Flash And The Pan (LP, Album) APLP.035

Long overdue a reissue / remaster / repressing!referencing Flash And The Pan (LP, Album) APLP.035
Which pressing of this album is the best one? Has anyone compared Australian, American, Japanese, British and German original pressings?referencing Flash And The Pan (CD, Album, Limited Edition, Reissue, Remastered, Paper Sleeve) AIRAC-1671
Does anyone know whether this is a new remaster or the Repertoire version?- Overall a surprise for me. I'm not expected to much. I only knew the song "Waiting for A Train", bit famous in Brazil.
Some great moments like "Walking In The Rain" and "The African Shuffle".
