good job, united record pressing! sounds great and doesn't skip or sound like crap on this 2011 reissue

My copy of this sounds AMAZING! I'm only on "Dancehall" right now.
But, wow! This shit sounds GREAT!

How's this compared to the 2011 pressing? Not really seeing a benefit to not get the 2011 pressing cause of I've Got It All (Most) and who really needs the remixes?

I finally caved and bought this when I found a copy on here in good condition and reasonably priced (but still not cheap), after planning to buy the remastered 20th anniversary last year and balking when I saw reviews. I am not a huge fan of the different production sound on the 2024 remaster but the cost difference and accessibility in stores had me willing to buy it if the pressing was good. I liked the idea of having some of the extra songs too. Apparently it isn't great, so I went back to considering investing in a good copy. If you can afford to, this 2004 US press with the old Epic logo (make sure you ask and confirm before buying as I had a few "oops, it's listed wrong" before the one I got) sounds actually quite incredible and exceeded my hopeful but tempered/pessimistic expectations. It will be worth the extra money in the long run because I will listen to it more.

Flawless pressing, excellent remaster, the bass on this really goes low yet clean, no distortion, run in and between tracks dead silent, if only every new pressing was this good!

No surface noise on my copy. In fact, it’s one of my best sounding records. This is an audiophile quality pressing, in my opinion.

Finally got around to doing a comparison of this and the '04 pressing. My biggest takeaway is that there really isn't too much of a difference between the two. The remastered version is a bit quieter overall, but the bass is more prominent — really stands out on tracks like Float On and Black Cadillacs. And even with an additional song on each side, sides A-C only hold 17 min of music so there really isn't a loss in fidelity (and certainly no distortion). Both are dynamic, well-balanced pressings. I have to admit that I prefer the sequencing of songs on the remastered version. It's nice to hear Ocean Breathes Salty go into Bury Me With It, and for the album to end on Good Times. This will likely be my go-to listening copy going forward, but not because there's a major sonic difference. Simply a preference in track sequencing, not to mention the remixes are a nice bonus.
