Oasis (2) – Standing On The Shoulder Of Giants

A pretty average pressing. All sounds a bit flat and compressed. Not sure how this was mastered and transferred, but disappointed.

Straight out of the shrink wrap this was a good song, bad song album unlike their Creation period, but contemporaneous old-Wembley gigs were insane.

100% garbage press. I compared it to the 2018 version and it got massacred by it. Total shocker since 99% of the time older pressings sound better. I also have the original 2000 version and that's the way to go.

I enjoyed this one. It’s a bit streamlined but more fun than Be Here Now.

Bought this record 4 1/2 years ago. Opened it but never dropped the needle. Decided to give the record a vacuum clean and a spin. I was worried that this release would suffer the same sibilance and other issues the other 2016's had. Zero issues. Flat, quiet, great sounding. Oasis rules. BIBLICAL.

My pressing is great, dead silent. Not super loud so you might need to crank it. Great looking gatefold as well.

This is the best 2000s Oasis outing I think. Go Let it Out is a top 5 Oasis song to me. By far the weakest point on the album is Noel’s 2 acoustic songs, just bland. I’m even a fan of Put Yer Money Where Yer Mouth is, which features a great Liam vocal. Of course Gas Panic is another fan favourite and Roll it Over is a great album closer. We needed more of this on subsequent Oasis albums

Pretty terrible. Oasis’s recordings were never great in terms of production to begin with, so when that’s paired with noisy vinyl and bad mastering… not good.

I didn't quite enjoy this album back when it was released in 2000 as I was still in the maze of the band's straight forward rock & roll style. The first impression of this one is like 'these guys are going back to the psychedelic era, what the heck!?'?.' Hey, we all know that things are changing consistently so does your fave music taste. I can say this is the best Oasis album made by real grown up adults.

Very interesting release. As an anecdote, in his last tour of Mexico, Noel Gallagher was asked to sign a copy of this box, where he himself asked what it was since he was totally unaware of its origin and existence. A recording of this event exists on social media.

I don't have any earlier pressings to compare this to but this one sounds pretty decent on my Project turntable, no loud crackles or pops.
