Prince – Batman™ (Motion Picture Soundtrack)

Next to the original, this has a bass boost. But the original has better sound quality—detail, balance and soundstage—present. The photo-quality/packaging of the original beats this reissue as well. Although I wouldn’t recommend the sound quality of this release over the original, I do admire it for its flat, quiet vinyl-pressing, the BATMAN label design, and for the anti-static sleeve included.

I have this and the 2023 reissue. This one—the original— takes the cake. The reissue has a nice bass boost but at the expense of the finer, funkier details that come ever-present on this ‘89 release. The glossier jacket and photographic quality of the original’s packaging also shines by comparison.

Compared it to my DMM American OG. There's definitely more bass on this reissue, and to me it's a sole plus. Otherwise the reissue sounds more congested and one-dimensional, with Prince's vocals buried in the mix and everything sounding just flat and pretty dead. Prince Estate should change the sound engineer ASAP, all of the recent reissues suffer from the same issues.

Very good reissue. No pops, cracks, etc.. nice channel separation and thight bass. Mine came with a polylined inner sleeve (Europe)

My copy sounds great, though it does have several minor dimples. They seem to be visual defects only, as I did not hear a single pop or thump. Might be masked by the music but very low if any.

This is an excellent record from Prince. He was on a streak from 1979 to 1993 with amazing album after album.

"The Future" is the perfect opener, and it sets the tone for the rest of the record: samples. He knew the song was good; it was the opener for his "Nude Tour" the following year.

"Electric Chair" is good, but his live rendition of the song in SNL is even better.

"The Arms of Orion" is a bland duet with Sheena Easton. Its not the best song on here, and sounds like it could belong in a Disney film

The rest of the songs ("Partyman","Vicki Waiting", "Trust", "Lemon Crush") are good upbeat funky tracks.

The final cut, "Batdance" is a mess, but a mess that suprisingly works and that only a genius could do

Nice new label!!! Glad it is not the blank Warner Records one we have seen lately on some Sony reissues.

I've had two copies of this one, where the needle jumps a bit at the start of each side - nothing major. Apart from that, the record is very good indeed, I cannot fault the sound one bit.

Mine sounded fine up until Scandalous which had a lot of annoying pops and clicks throughout even after a vacuum cleaning. A shame since that's my favorite song on this one. :( The record also did not come in a polylined sleeve like others have mentioned. It was directly in the printed inner sleeve and was all scuffed up and dirty.

Surprisingly terrific reissue, with excellent soundstage and channel separation, and the bass is just right. Such a treat to FINALLY have this wonderful album sounding so vibrant on vinyl. Bravo!
