Passable copy. Pretty muffled and flat. I'm going to look for the recent reissue as all the other reissues sound fantastic. At least I have the cool US alternative cover. If you're going for a US release make sure you have Gilbert Kongs initials in the deadwax but even then I hear the reissue is better

Can anyone tell me if the new reissues will be repressed anytime soon? Thanks

Very impressed with this repress. Excellent sound all around, very well balanced - the guitars come screaming through at the right times! Like cyrusman, my copy is extremely quiet with almost zero surface noise. Great addition to my collection.

If you love this album, this is the pressing you should get. Not just this one, but any of the Mercury label versions with the 'MASTERDISK' stamp (3 options)

I had quite a journey with this record. First I got a 2010's reissue which sounded awful, then a 1975 UK first press Vertigo, which also sounded bad. Muddy and flat, and I didn't understand what was going on. Then I dig up some info about this, and came to the conclusion that I have to try with this 'MASTERDISK' pressing. Finally I can settle with this one - waited for some time to come across a reasonable offer around my area.
But you should know that this one isn't perfect either. It also feels a little flat, but still waaaay better that the first press UK Vertigo. Also I like this cover art better.

So all in all, if you are looking for the best first issue of this album, I can recommend the US Mercury pressings with the 'MASTERDISK' stamp. There are 3 different versions, I add this review to all of them.

Interesting how this cover and the Ramones’ first both had very similar look and came out in 75! Coincidence or influence?

The initial press of this came with a faulty bonus disc on which the US mix of "Rosalie" was actually just the regular album version repeated. For a time it was possible to contact Universal and receive a corrected bonus disc in the mail. I don't actually know if a second run with the fixed disc was ever produced.

Great repress. Listened all the way through. No surface noise or pops that have become common with new pressings. Highly recommend this edition.

I have variant 6 in VG+ condition. It sounds kind of flat and dull to me. Like it was going through a few generations. Wouldn't be surprised if it's from tape. I have other Vertigo first presses from Lizzy (Vagabond, Nightlife, Jailbreak, Johnny) they sound really great - like they should be. This is pretty bad sounding compared to those. The digital versions of this sound slightly better to my ears, they are more sharp/edgy. I'll try with a 'Masterdisk G.K.' Mercury pressing sometime when I have the chance.
